Mae's POV (but written by writerbug44)

"You shouldn't have done that," Landon is telling me over the landline phone that I'm now being forced to use thanks to my overreacting father.

"I know, I know. I've already gotten that lecture from my father. I really don't need it from you too," I mumble, laying down on my bed as I stare up at the ceiling.

"Well, no, it's not just that you got drunk," He continues. "It's the fact that we were hanging out and you just went into the kitchen and started drinking, which is kind of fucked up to me. Because I know that you're going through a rough time with Miles and Logan right now and I'm your boyfriend, I'm supposed to be able to make you feel better. Apparently though, you figured that I wasn't good enough company and needed to get drunk to cope."

"No, that's not it at all," I say quickly. "I wasn't even thinking. You make everything better, Landon."

"For some reason, I don't believe you," He states and I sit back up in my bed, trying my best not to start crying because I really need Landon right now. With Miles and Logan and now Kasey all not talking to me, I absolutely need Landon to be on my side right now. "And I'm starting to think that I like you a lot more than you like me."

"Are you being serious?" I wonder incredulously. "Landon, I've been like, in love with you for almost a year now. That's absolutely ridiculous, you have no idea how much that I like you."

"I don't know, I guess things change," He mumbles, obviously upset about what's going on. "And I think that you need to figure out what you want because with the way that you're going, you're going to end up very alone very quickly. I get that you're upset about Logan and Miles dating and lying to you about it. But you're pushing away your other friends now, and you're pushing me away too. Like I said, I know that you're upset right now and I tried being there for you, but I wasn't enough. And your friends aren't enough either. So who's going to be there for you when you get your head out of your ass? Because we're not going to stick around forever."

And then after that, he hangs up the phone without letting me respond to him. With tears running down my face, I put the phone down on my nightstand and try to figure out what I need to do to convince Landon that he means the world to me. And to apologize to Kasey because she didn't deserve how I snapped at her a few days ago. I have a lot to fix right now.

Just as I'm sobering up from my small panic, I can hear people walking down the hallway outside of my closed door and then I hear Logan giggling, which makes me believe that Miles is also out there because I don't think that I've ever heard her giggle before.

"I can't believe you did that," Logan says, her words muffled by my door but I can still easily understand what she's saying. "You can't just stand up when you're practically free-falling down a water slide."

"Yes you can, it's basically like surfing," My brother says, also laughing.

"You could have gotten us killed," She says and I'm mentally urging them to go into another room instead of standing around in the hallway so that I don't have to hear their disgusting couple banter because I have enough on my mind that doesn't concern them. I don't want to go out there though, because I don't want them to know that I'm in here, even though I'm sure that they can assume that considering I'm not allowed to leave the house for the next two weeks.

"You worry too much," Miles accuses Logan but it's getting harder to hear so I'm hoping that they're going away now.

"You're driving me crazy right now," Logan replies and then I realize that their voices are only getting quieter because they're talking quieter, because they're about to make out right in front of my room.
