Ten Months Later
"This is the last box," Logan states with a heaving breath as she basically throws the heavy cardboard box onto the floor of her new dorm room. Even with her boyfriend's help, it took all morning to get all of her stuff moved from her car to her dorm room and because both of her parents were too busy with work, she didn't have help from either one of them.
"It's about time," Miles says jokingly as he shuts the door behind Logan. "How much stuff do you think that you need in college?"
"I got a single room so that I could pack it full of crap without having a roommate to complain about it," She explains with a light giggle as she jumps into Miles' arms and presses her lips to his. "I'm so glad that I'm finally here."
Their almost-year apart was pretty painful. There were arguments over Skype, ignored phone calls, and almost-breakups but they got through it. Because there was also conversations over Skype that neither one of them wanted to end, so they'd end up falling asleep at night while still on the Skype call, and there were three hour phone calls. They'd seen each other during breaks because Miles spent Thanksgiving with Logan and her family and then Logan flew to South Carolina to spend Christmas with Miles and Mae with their family.
It was a little bit awkward for Logan to go to Miles' family dinner considering Mae was there and they weren't very good friends at all. They are polite to each other when they see each other but their argument over Logan's relationship with Miles kind of killed the relationship that they had built since they were kids.
"I'm so glad that you're finally here too," He grins, kissing her again.
After going back home, it was rough for Logan to adjust to living with only her father and then visiting her mother on weekends. It wasn't a bad change for Logan because her parents were always fighting when they were together and living with just her father, it was peaceful and quiet and without spending all of his time fighting with her mom and vice versa, Logan got to spend a lot of time with her parents. Although her father was skeptical of her long distance relationship with Miles, she proved to him how much it meant to her considering they stayed together for the nine months while Logan finished high school with her family in Iowa.
Now, she's getting acquainted in her dorm room at North Carolina State University with Miles. Her parents were both unhappy to hear that her college plans were based on a boy but she argued that point by telling them that it wasn't like she had any plans already. She had no idea where she wanted to go to school before her relationship with Miles, and she still has no idea what she wants to major in. Going to NCSU didn't really affect any future plans that she had before. If anything, being with Miles has helped her future because before being with him, she wasn't even sure if she wanted to go to college at all.
"Okay, you have to choose food," Logan says, pulling away from Miles. "I'm starving and you know what's good."
"There's a pizza place across the street," He offers.
"Pizza sounds good," She grins, taking his hand in hers as they both left her small single-person dorm to go get some lunch before they will have to part ways to unpack all of their boxes. They don't have to go far though, because Miles got a room just a floor above Logan's in the same dorm building.
"This is going to be so cool," Logan says as they're on their way downstairs, weaving through all of the people that are trying to move into their dorms today. "Seeing each other every day is going to be so great. It'll be just like last summer except hopefully this time, we won't ruin any friendships."
Miles laughs because he knows that she was just joking. "Yeah, I guess we'll have to work on that one."
"How is Mae doing by the way?" She asks him curiously.
