Mae’s POV

After an excruciatingly long and tiring dance practice, I make it home- barely able to walk with my now jelly legs. I have my dance bag balanced on one shoulder as I use the other hand to slowly open the door to the house. My stomach grumbles in hunger- it’s not too late or anything, I just haven’t ate since this afternoon, and I think it’s about 6 PM now.

As I get inside, I let out a big sigh of exhaustion as I drop my bag to the ground. I hear some people talking somewhere nearby and that’s when I remember that Logan is coming today. What with an exhausting dance practice, it totally slipped my mind that today was the day.

My body is now ten times more awake than it was moments prior. I quickly slip of my sneakers and hurry into the house in search of people. It doesn’t take me long to guess that the noise is coming from the kitchen so I run in there. My eyes land on Logan’s deep brown hair and I immediately attack my old best friend with a big bear hug, not really caring that I am completely sweaty right now.

“Logan!” I exclaim, tightening my hold around her.

“Mae!” She mimics, returning the tight hug for a few moments. “You’re squishing me,” She breaths, releasing me from the hug.

“Sorry,” I mutter, a smile plastering itself on my face. “I missed you so much!” I inform her, placing the palm of my hands on either side of her face, like a grandma would do to her grandchild if she hasn’t seen them in a while, except in this case, I’m not a grandma and Logan’s not my grandchild (obviously).

“I missed you too,” Logan replies, smiling brightly at me.

“Are we interrupting your love fest or something?” Cory, one of Miles’ friends, jokes while quirking an amused eyebrow.

“Ha, you’re so funny, Cory,” I sarcastically retort, rolling my eyes at him.

“I try,” He smirks, resting his elbows against the marble counter near the fridge.

“So,” I turn my attention back to Logan, “You’re coming to the bonfire on the weekend, right? You have to come, it’ll be so much fun!”

“Mae,” She laughs, “Obviously I’ll go- I don’t see why I wouldn’t.”

I shrug my shoulders, the big grin never leaving my face as I walk over to the refrigerator and grab a water bottle out of it. I twist off the cap, and quickly gulp down the cool liquid.

“I have so many ideas as to what we can do this summer,” I tell Logan, placing the water bottle back in the fridge so that it stays cold. “First off, we should totally watch a movie or something tonight and then we can talk about everything and anything! Oh, and we need food sometime tonight.”

“Are we invited?” Miles teases, laughing lightly.

I roll my eyes at my idiotic brother, shoving his shoulder lightly as I walk past him, out of the kitchen. “I just have to go shower, I’ll be back in a jiffy,” I tell Logan.

“Ok, I’ll be here,” Logan replies, jumping up to sit on the countertop.

I continue on my journey to the lovely shower, to wash off all of this disgusting sweat that has accumulated on areas of my body. I sprint up the stairs, missing each second step, trying to be as fast as possible despite the painful ache in my legs from practice. I don’t want to take my time with Logan for granted- I want to spend as much time with her in the next three months as humanly possible.

When I get into my room, I am not used to how clean it is- it’s like my room is spotless.

The walls of my room are coated with a nice clean white colored paint- I chose white, because at the time I couldn’t decide on a specific color scheme that I wanted, so that I thought white would be the best idea, that way I can always change the color scheme of my room, and it will always match the walls. My bed is situated on the right side of the room, against the wall in the middle. When you walk into the room, the first thing you see is the long side of the bed, since the door and the bed are placed right near each other. There is a TV in my room across from the bed but I don’t use it too often because the TV in the living room has a bigger screen than the one in my room. In all honesty, my room is nothing too special- a bed, TV, a closet, which is placed on the wall beside the door. That’s all really. I also have a desk on the other side of the room, which has a few pens- the majority of them have ran out of ink, which I should really throw out, but I always forget- and my laptop lays on top of the desk.
