Mae’s POV

“Where are we going?” I question Landon once we are in his car, driving down the road that my house is located on. Our hands are interlocked together, resting in the centre consul. Landon is absentmindedly circling his thumb around the back of my left hand in a soothing manner, which makes me blush and smile a small grin.

“I’m not going to tell you,” Landon laughs, which makes me look over in his direction quickly to be able to witness one of his beautiful smiles.

“What if I buy you a milkshake? Will you tell me then?” I quiz, trying to think of some way to get Landon to spill where we are going, and I know that he really, really likes milkshakes, so this might just be the way.

Landon laughs once again. “Tempting,” He grins a boyish grin in my direction briefly before turning his attention back to the road ahead of us, “But no, sorry,” He shrugs his shoulders, continuing to rub his thumb in a circular motion on the back of my hand.

I frown slightly, but I’m not really sad, obviously. I just really want to know where Landon is taking me, but I trust him, so I’m going to guess it’s somewhere really awesome and nice, and he’s not taking me to some abandoned small house to murder me, because he doesn’t seem like the type to do that- if he was, I wouldn't be going on a date with him, let alone actually like him.

Landon continues to drive down the road, taking the occasionally right or left turn, leaving me a little bit confused as to where we are going, because we aren’t headed in the direction of the city, we are going in almost the complete opposite direction, towards the ocean, which I guess does kind of make sense too, since he told me to wear my swim suit.

I shake my head, getting rid off all the thoughts and guesses I have as to where we might be going, trying to get my mind off of it. I really have to stop trying to guess at these type of things, because I am always left even more baffled and confused on the way their, than I was to begin with.

About fifteen to twenty minutes later, Landon pulls into a marina, which is understandably almost vacant, with no one else really around, since it is dark outside and most people would have gone home by now. Landon parks his car, turning off the engine and quickly slipping out of the car, jogging around to my side to open my door for me like a sweet gentleman.

“Thanks,” I mumble, a red tint appearing on my cheeks as I feel the warmness start to appear slowly.

Landon takes my small hand in his large one, interlocking our fingers together, which fit like a puzzle piece perfectly. He tugs me lightly in the direction of the dock, which I wasn’t really concentrating on early, but now that I look in that direction, after glancing out our intertwined fingers, I notice quite a few boats, big and small, and some yachts out there, which doesn’t shock me, because a lot of the rich or fairly rich people in the town I live in, or towns near by, park their yachts out here at this marina.

“What are we doing here?” I ask, tucking a piece of stray brown hair behind my left ear with my free hand, the one that isn’t holding Landon’s hand.

“I’ll show you,” He replies, smiling down at me because he is taller than me, even when I am wearing high heels.

We continue to walk towards the dock, which eventually separates into a few other ‘lanes’. Once we get onto the actual dock, after going down a mini ramp, we turn left, and continue going all the way down to the very end of the dock, where barely any boats are, only a few are docked there. I don’t really concentrate on any of the other boats, mainly because I just really want to know where it is we are going, plus, it’s so dark that you can barely see any of the actual designs on the boats.
