The show must go on

Chapter 40 - Little Mix kicks cancers ass

This chapter is quite special for me. In my experience there are rare moments when you get that much into the flow that you sit at your laptop in a trance and only stop typing when the last word is written. That's what happened with this chapter. I started in the evening and finished in the middle of the night. I wrote down these 6000 words in about three hours. It was the most fun writing session I've ever had  😂

It might be a bit different from what you're used to from me, but I hope you love it anyway❤️

Narrator POV

A camera goes through the arena and shows the faces of the people who managed to get tickets. As Sam told them later, there was such a rush for tickets, despite the extreme short notice, that they would have been able to put on ten more shows. You can see them all with wide, beaming eyes, big grins on their faces, many already with matching festival merch, some with fan posters raised up high. All the artists are mentioned, but most of what's on the posters is Little Mix or more accurately, get well soon Jade. Just by this little camera swing going through the arena, the atmosphere is clear even for the viewers via the global livestream, so also Jade and Perrie. The crowd is hyped, they are excited, they are ecstatic, they want it to start and it doesn't take long before they start shouting. But they are not shouting for any artist who is performing today.

"Little Mix! Little Mix! Little Mix!" is the chant that goes through the rows. And they are quickly supplied. A trailer appears on the big screen, showing all of Little Mix's music videos, all of their tours, all of their moments so far, accompanied by a mashup of their greatest hits.

For five minutes, the audience continues to be hyped up, making them scream even louder, until at the end of the video, the official poster of the festival appears and all the artists performing today are introduced. To top it off, only an instrumental version of Power is heard, a fog machine fogs the stage, a laser show goes through the arena and finally Leigh-Anne and Jesy come riding through the floor lift onto the stage and the crowd goes crazy.

"What a start," Perrie can hardly hide her amazement.

"They look incredible," Jade remarks instead.

And it's true, they do. Leigh-Anne wears a long, off-the-shoulder dress in her favourite colour, a classy green, and her hair tied into an unique braided hairstyle. Jesy wears a wide-cut, floor-length black dress trimmed with lace and her hair tousled into a mane. They look like the stars they are.

Noticing the screams from the audience, they can't stop grinning and clasp each other's hand tightly for encouragement and support.

"Wow," Leigh says into the microphone in amazement. "Welcome to the Little Mix kicks cancer's ass show!"

The fans' screams are so loud she thinks they can't even be heard.

"The show hasn't even started and you're already going crazy. That's what we want to see!" she praises.

"We are so happy to have you all here tonight for this very special evening," Jesy takes over. "As you can see there are only two of us on stage tonight."
