Tsubaki's pov
"Alright Mama Hawk, let's settle down here!" Meliodas called, I watched from the window as Mama Hawk stopped walking and let out a snort before burrowing down into the ground, setting the Boar Hat down just outside the capital of Liones. We had just came back from traveling around the countryside and I was excited to see Gil, Griamore and Howzer as I hadn't seen them in a full four months. "Tsu!" I looked outside, spotting Meliodas standing a few feet away from the Tavern. "Get the decorations ready! We're going to be very busy within the next hour." I nodded, "What about you? What are you going to do?" I asked, "I'm gonna into town and pick up some things!!" he answered, I closed the window, letting the warmth take over as it had felt really cold outside. The temperature had constantly been dropping since we entered the month of December and I absolutely loved it, but what I loved more was the fact that we had finally came back to the capital. Right now though, it was only Meliodas, Hawk, Ban and I in the Boar Hat. Meliodas forced Elizabeth to stay home in the Castle with her sisters and Gil, Griamor and Howzer before we left on our trip. At the very beginning, most of us were here. But as we moved from one city. village or town to the next, we started to separate. King and Diane decided to help out some people in an older village the first month we traveled, that left Merlin, Gowther, Ban, Meliodas, Hawk and I. About two weeks later, Merlin took Gowther with her to conduct some experiments and gather research regarding the whereabouts of Escanor, who we still haven't found. But they all promised to be back before Christmas Eve so that we could all spend it together. That left Ban, Meliodas, Hawk and I to man the tavern and continue traveling. Along the way, we frequented many restaurants and different villages, learning new tricks and new parts of culture we hadn't seen before. But with all the fun we were having, I still had that lingering feeling of missing my family. I missed Mom and Dad terribly, but I missed Toshio and Tsuyu even more. I only managed to spend two days with them before we left on our journey, we didn't come back to the Capital for at least fpur months. Since I didn't get to see them, I wrote them letters and had them delivered at every town we visited. I rushed out of the room, grabbing the box of decorations from the hallway closet and headed downstairs where I found Ban and Hawk.
"Ban!" He looked up from the counter, his red eyes meeting mine. "Can you help me set up the decorations?" He got up from his seat, smiling at me and met me at the bottom stair. He took the box from me and the two of us started decorating the tavern. "So.. Tsu, I noticed that while we were traveling, you were constantly writing letters every chance you got and would disappear into town to have them delivered. Who were you writing to?" Ban asked, "Yeah, I was curious of that as well." Hawk stepped forward, "Well, I was writing to Toshio. I was telling him about everything we had been through on our trip, I wanted to keep him updated so that he didn't worry about me." I let out a sigh, picking up a small box of ornaments for the tree.
"Did he answer you?" Ban asked, taking a seat across the table from me.
"No. I never got anything back from him. I figured it was because he was traveling with Tsuyu." Ban and Hawk looked at one another, sensing how sad Tsubaki sounded. Ban looked at me with a strange emotion in his eyes, "I'm fine, Ban. Really. I am. I didn't expect to get anything back from him." I shrugged, placing the empty box behind the counter.
"Tsu, you're lying." He said.
"No, I'm not." I shook my head.
"You are, Tsu. I can see it in your eyes that you were expecting an answer from him and to get nothing, I can tell you're disappointed." Ban argued, "Ban, I said I am fine. Stop arguing with me about this!" I snapped, Ban looked taken back by my anger which I didn't mean to direct at him. I took a deep breath, bringing myself down from the anger and let it out. "I'm sorry, Ban. I didn't mean to yell at you like that." I apologized, "It's alright, I was the one who kept pushing. Sorry." I waved it off and tried to lighten the dampened mood that I brought on. It wasn't long before Ban started telling jokes and making me laugh when he tied Hawk up, "See, this is how a Christmas pig should be tied up. And then we put an apple in his mouth and stick him in the oven to bake." Ban explained, "Hey!!! I'm not food!! Tsu, stop this madness!" I could only laugh at Hawk's reaction, I knew that Ban wasn't actually going to cook him. Most of the decorations had been put up, Ban even put the lights outside. All we needed now was a Christmas tree since we had everything else. "Hawk, he's not going to actually cook you." I laughed, "Yeah, I wouldn't do that."
"Wow, this place looks great already!" Meliodas exclaimed as he entered the tavern, behind him was Elizabeth, Griamore, Gilthunder and Howzer. "Ahh!! Gil!!" I immediately rushed towards the trio, launching myself at Gilthunder who chuckled and caught me with ease. "I missed you guys so much!!" I pulled Griamore and Howzer into the hug, letting out happy squeals much to the dismay of Hawk and the others. The three of them just laughed it off, hugging me back and Gilthunder placed me down on my feet. I let go of Gil, giving Griamore a big hug and the moved onto Howzer. "I've missed you so much, Howzer." I buried my face into his chest, taking in his scent. "I've missed you too, babe." The two of us just took a moment to enjoy each other's company, which the others let us have in private. Howzer pulled back from the hug and grabbed my face, pulling me into a kiss which I gave into. I closed my eyes, kissing him back with everything I had. We stayed like this for a few minutes before Ban and Meliodas started teasing the two of us, so I threw a large ornament at Meliodas who caught it instead. "How was your trip?" Griamore asked, "Very interesting." Ban stated, squinting his eyes at Meliodas. "And where are the others sins? I thought that they would be here." Elizabeth asked, "They all split from us during our journey. Diane and King stayed behind at a village we rescued early on in the trip. Diane wanted to get help them get back on their feet, so she stayed and King stayed with her. Merlin wanted to do some experiments and took Gowther with her, they should be here soon." Meliodas explained, "The place looks great. Did you guys do the decorations?" Elizabeth asked, looking to Meliodas.
"Actually, I left that up to Tsu."
"Well, I had help. All we need now is a Christmas tree." I stated, "Did someone say Christmas Tree?" I turned to the door and let out a happy squeal as Diane and King came in with a giant Christmas tree in tow.
"You guys made it!!" I tackled Diane into a hug, happy to see my best friend. "We wouldn't miss Christmas for the world, Tsu." She smiled, "Wow, you guys did great with the decorations." King smiled, looking around that Tavern. "Thanks. Here, let me take your coats." I hung up their coats and headed behind the counter, grabbing ingredients to make Hot chocolate. I smiled as I watched Ban tease King, while Meliodas was poking fun at the trio. Diane and Elizabeth were smiling and carrying a conversation and I knew that things were going to be okay this Christmas.
