Since your arrival back at the palace many months ago, you had little time to rest your wary mind or to grieve the loss of Munnin.
Munnin, Odin's once loyal Raven who's tragic past caused him severe mental anguish, turning his heart black.
He sought screams, and craved fear. Selfishly participating in evil actions, to acquire short term relief from his never ending despair.
He kidnapped you, abused you, and caused you an unreal amount of heartache, all to mask his own pain. Yet, along the way his heart bloomed alive with love for you, dissolving the demons that resided within him.
It was because of that love, he chose to sacrifice himself to save the one you loved, Loki. It also resulted in the end of Prince Beren's life, along with his own.
You naively believed there would be peace since Gunnar was no longer commanding rebels, and the evil Prince Beren was long dead. The waters would be smooth sailing from here on out, you foolishly thought.
How wrong you were.
As soon as word got out you were back at the palace. The news spread of the death of Beren, and his treacherous ways.
Odin had hoped to keep what happened quiet. To remain peaceful with Alfheim. But the old Elf King refused to believe his son committed such wrongful actions and instead blamed you for his death.
He demanded a trial, and for it to take place in Alfheim only.
Each day you nervously waited, feeling fearful and anxious. Just wanting it over with. But the days turned into weeks. The weeks morphing into months.
They were long, and tedious. Filled with the same mundane routine. Nothing seemed to change, or progress. The only thing not stuck in a loop was your growing belly.
Your son safely grew inside you, unaware of the stressful tribulations of the outside world. The uncertainty that awaited you could be peace or chaos. You were relieved he was still balled up in safety.
Loki insisted you rest, knowing high profile court rulings were stressful. He barred you from unnecessary hearings and flat out refused your involvement when Alfheim wanted to question you.
He did not want your mind to be clouded with the complex court proceedings, and the negative statements of Alfheim. Who constantly tried to paint you as the bad guy to other realms.
You felt more alone than ever as everyone including Kai and Huggin were consumed with the upcoming trial. Loki busied himself with Thor daily, eager to gather all evidence of your innocence.
You felt ashamed for feeling lonely, as they worked tirelessly on your behalf. But you couldn't help it. Your mind was breaking, so full of mixed emotions with no one to offload to.
The stress of it all caused you to forget Munnin was dead. You found yourself walking towards his cell a few times only to stop, and relive your grief when you remembered he was gone. You missed his listening skills, his clever talks.
Months of back and forth negotiations resumed, with Asgard council members acting as your defence. They worked unrelentingly to come to some sort of arrangement so you'd not be dragged to Alfheim in your heavily pregnant condition. But although they truly did try, they did not succeed.
Today was the day of judgement.
You remembered a time you were once excited to visit Alfheim and see regal elves. You never imagined your first steps in Alfheim would be to your own trial.
As you sat in a stately court room, surrounded by Royal Elves and other nobles, you felt their gazing eyes stare at you with hatred.
They blamed you entirely for the loss of Prince Beren. The oldest son of King Fagen.
