A/N: TW: abandonment issues, Self doubt. Sun and Lunar are not related in this story! It felt easier to write if they were more adoptive brothers! Hope it's not an issue. Sorry for the long age of waiting- a little bit of inspiration from SAMS! Have a good day/afternoon/night! - Alireta
After Lunar had been left by Eclipse, he was hurt. Badly. All he had wanted was to please his brother- to earn some respect besides being some object! All he managed to do was push him away. Make him disappointed- ashamed to be brothers.. That's how he ended up in the daycare, Eclipse leaving him to deal with other matters, probably tinkering with random technology, along with Moon.. why did he like Moon more? Why couldn't he be more like Moon..? He thought all too often. Lunar sat in the living area of the four celestial animatronics room. They each had one bedroom each and a fairly sized living area, leading out to Sun's balcony. He thought that all the others were working, so he sat alone. Not ashamed to shed his stressed tears. It was then that Sun walked in, unannounced, and began comforting Lunar. Despite Lunar thinking it was just an act- he was sure Sun wouldn't want to deal with a crying Lunar, who would? His tears seemed endless- so Sun decided to offer Lunar a second chance- to let Lunar work with him! Sun let Moon tinker and patrol all day, all while helping and caring for Lunar, who couldn't refuse such an offer. Despite fearing that Sun would abandon him too- he still managed to smile genuinely every morning, especially while seeing the little ones slide into the daycare every day! He was more than thankful for Sun's help.
It was no surprise then that Lunar had hung out with Sun every day since. They got along well! No matter how they first met. Sun was grateful for Lunar's help around the daycare and Lunar was more then happy to be appreciated. Noticed by somebody other than Eclipse- for a reason other then failing or ruining something! Noticed for something else than 'serving his intended purpose'.. he had always felt that he was more then what Eclipse thought- not a pawn, not dumb, certainly not useless! Now he just hoped that his time with Sun would show him that he was right. Prove to him that he wasn't worthless! He hoped that Sun's attention and care for him lately was a good sign, he was working harder and he was doing his best to learn to be better, now all he had to do was maintain Sun's interest in him. After all, the second that he gets bored of Lunar, the very moment when he thinks he's useless.. that would be when he leaves him behind. Forgets him. Lunar did not want that.
So here he was, sat on his favourite beanbag, reading to the children in the daycare, also sat on their favourite beanbags- Chatting to them beside the story, making sure that the little ones learned from it, always knowing something more then what they sat down with before hand. How to share, how to be kind to others! Everything! He was currently reading a story about sharing and friendships, seeing the happy looks on all of the children's faces as they listened carefully to him, he loved this. From the corner of his eyes, he noticed Sun running around with other children, seemingly playing a game of tag. Sun was giggling energetically with the kids around him, and Lunar smiled. He couldn't help but admire Sun's raw, natural ability to get along with children! Even if it was some coding, after his sentience you couldn't deny that he was destined to look after kids no matter the coding! Sometimes Lunar wondered whether Sun was ever affected by his coding.. other than the cleaning! Or was that actual OCD? He would never understand- nonetheless! There were many qualities that Lunar had hoped to learn from Sun, praying that his interest in what Sun himself was interested in, it would make Sun think higher of him! Not thinking that he was trying to copy- No! He had to hope that it would keep him from.. abandoning.. him... like Eclipse did.. Y-yeah! That'll w-work! Right?..
Sun was oblivious to his close friends struggle, never thinking that the anxiousness and shyness of Lunar ran as deep as it did. At least not until one of the story time kids ran up and tugged on his pants, successfully drawing his attention to the child's tearful face. "What's wrong my little flower?! What happened?!" He worried, the child looked up at him as he wiped her tears, "M-mr Lunar is sad! S-so I'm sad!!" She yelled, crying more. Sun was shocked, Lunar hadn't been sad since the day he had offered him the choice to help him! Had he? Something had to be seriously wrong! He comforted the child, giving her a stuffed toy from his secret little compartment for plushy emergencies, watching her face light up at the colourful gift, tears fading away. He smiled at her and giggled at her happiness, telling her to go play with the others in the daycare while he helped Lunar too, promising to make him just as happy as he had just made her- the child making him cross his heart too. Desperate for Lunar to feel better. Not like Sun had any intention to let Lunar stay as sad as he was for long to begin with.
