i would take all the risks,
if only they didn't have setbacks.
i would take every one of those risks,
in hopes one day,
'us' would be a word i love to use.

"It's a cruel summer!" Kaycee and Sean sang along and screamed the lyrics at the top of their lungs, "it's cool, that's what I tell them, no rules in unbreakable heaven. But oooh, it's a cruel summer with you!"

They bobbed their heads to the tunes of Shake It Off and lip-synced to Enchanted. They even rolled down their windows at one point and screamed the lyrics out of the window, and some people would join in while waiting for the traffic lights.

"Sometimes it makes me wonder why haven't you ever considered being a singer instead of a dancer? You're letting your talented vocals go to waste." Kaycee questioned, which was something that never really crossed Sean's mind.

"I don't know. I guess I feel more connected to dancing as compared to singing. I love expressing my creativity through body expressions, more than writing lyrics that just doesn't suit everyone's taste." Sean shrugged, while making sure he still kept his eyes on the road.

"We could become a new kind of duo. Instead of being dance partners, you could sing and I could dance. Don't you have a recording studio somewhere in your house?" Kaycee smiled at the idea, which seemed odd and spontaneous, yet fun and exciting.

"I wanna be the one dancing thoughhhh." Sean pleaded, Kaycee refusing to give in.

"Who is the one with the most talented vocals I have ever heard?" Kaycee gently nudged Sean's shoulder.

"Oh please, it's like the worst thing to ever be heard in the whole world. That cover I did that is on YouTube, I'm pretty sure was of This Town, didn't do that well as compared to any dance choreography I have done." Sean sighed.

"Shamu..."

"Kaycee...don't you give me those eyes."

"Shamuuuu..."

"Oh Kaycee, don't you try to use my weakness against me. Stop with the puppy eyes."

"Seanie Pooooooo!"

"Okay, okay! Fineeee." Sean finally gave in, which he wasn't completely mad about, since he wouldn't trust Kaycee with the vocals anyways.

"Excuse me?"

Oops. Sean had thought out loud on accident. But I guess he was only speaking facts and she would know it either now or later.

"I'm the most marvelous singer with the best set of vocals anyone has ever heard before, not even Arianna Grande can stop me with my whistle notes." Kaycee added, before clearing her throat, clearly about to try out her whistle notes.

"OKAY OKAY we get it. Please don't do whistle notes when we are in this enclosed space. We can do it in the front or back yard later. Just not here. I'm driving anyways." Sean pleaded her not to sing them, which Kaycee decided that it was for the better.

Phew. No broken eardrums.

"SEAN CHARLES LEW!" Kaycee furiously yelled.

"Oh snap."

Despite all the chaos, they safely made it back home, all in one piece. Sean was extremely grateful to see the roof of their houses as he drove up the hill, signalling to him that he made it back alive.

"I thought we wouldn't make it back." Sean heaved a sigh of relief.

"Come on, we've got a project to start. Let's be quick." Kaycee giggled and galloped her way into his house. Sean knew that the moment she starts to gallop around, you know she is extremely excited about whatever she was about to do.

"Kaycee...do you even know where the recording studio is?" Sean yelled upstairs, but he got back no response. It was actually downstairs, in the last room down the alleyway.

Kaycee came rushing down the stairs and tried to look for Sean. She finally found him in the garage, taking some tools out, most likely to fix his car.

"Seannnnn, where is the recording studio?" Kaycee sheepishly smiled and scratched the back of her neck.

"I knew you wouldn't be able to find it. Just down the alleyway on the first floor, last room. Wait in there for me. I'll finish fixing something in the car and be with you after." Sean replied, fanning her away with the hand that was empty, signalling her to head back in.

The car was pretty old, passed down by his father as said in his will. It was a museum piece, not made to drive long distances and probably only for an inch of the road. It was made more for show rather than use, yet it costed his dad about $500,000, not including the car insurance.

Since the engine was still slightly hot, Sean accidentally burned his hands a couple of times, while he checked the extremely messy bunched up wires near the engine.

But it had a part of his dad in the old white Mercedes-Benz that was standing well upright still, right in front of him. An old picture of him and his dad was still in the compartment at the front seat. It was taken more than 10 years ago, when Sean just learned how to walk. The edges had turned yellow from how old it is, the picture starting to fade in colour, yet the image of his father remained crystal clear to Sean.

Sean patted the car's front before parking it in the garage, safely kept from the harsh sunlight and extreme storms. The car was too precious to be left out to survive nature's "surprises" alone.

"Kaycee?" Sean called out as he walked towards the room.

"I'm in here!"

As he opened the door, he noticed a petite girl, barely fitting in his chair which seemed huge when she sat in it, playing around with the microphone casually sitting sturdily on a wooden study desk.

"What have you been up to?" Sean asked as he noticed Kaycee had moved some things around, getting ready to kick start the whole project.

"Nothing much, found this microphone in one of the boxes and it still seemed to be in good condition, so I connected it to your computer and I just got it working."

Sean curiously wondered how she even knew the password to his computer, since that was the one thing he never told her about even though he tells her pretty much everything. He wasn't hiding something, he just didn't feel like it was a necessary thing to tell her. There's a password for a reason anyways.

"How did you figure out my password to my computer?" Sean asked.

"Oh silly Shamu." Kaycee giggled.

"What?"

"Someone wrote it down on a Post-It and pasted it on the top of his monitor." Kaycee pointed at the crusty yellow post-it that had started turning dull in colour from possibly being exposed to dust.

"Oh...oh snap." Sean sighed and scratched the back of his head. He only did that because he already had so many passwords to remember, such as his phone password, all five of his email accounts' passwords, his laptop and tablet passwords etc. And he always kept forgetting the one for his computer, since he doesn't use it as often as the rest.

Kaycee placed her hand through his brown, fluffy hair and messed it up, enjoying adding volume to it and making it a ball of mess, but overly fluffy.

Sean rolled his eyes at her, like usual, annoyed at her antics. But deep down, he knew that his heart said something different from his mind. His heart beated quicker, the sudden increase in the rate proved a point. A point that he knew he shouldn't prove in the first place. He was also worried that in the quiet and slightly echoey room they were in, that she could clearly hear how fast his heart was beating.

But his heart knew something his mind had been desparately trying to deny all this time.

He can't fall in love with her.
