if 'happiness' were to be a person,
the one who brings light to gloom,
the one who brings rainbows to storms,
the one who brings warmth to winter,
he knew it would be her.

7.00 am.

This has been thus far the earliest he has woken up in months. He pushed himself out of the bed, even if it was so tempting to just lay down and continue sleeping, and walked over to the bathroom.

Brushing through his hair with his fingers, he definitely knew it needed to get fixed and done up. It was a whole mess, just like the piles of clean laundry that he never got around to hang up in his closet.

He opened the tap and let the water run into the palm of his hands, which formed a shape of a bowl to catch as much water as he possibly could. Once it filled up to a satisfactory level of water, Sean splashed his face with the cool water and wiped it off with his bath towel.

Once he got his face hydrated, he tried doing his face routine that he used to do before his dad passed. Back when he felt like himself.

Wash off the oil sitting on his face with water, pat dry with a clean towel. Next, a cleanser. It was months from expiring now, the last time he used it, he remembered it was a year away from the expiration date. Time really moves fast.

Finally, clean it all off with water and dry, before adding sunblock. Since he hadn't been outside for a long time, he hardly ever got around in using his large tube of sunblock, which were days, this time, from expiring. And he still had more than half the tube left to use up.

Perhaps it was a sign that he should go to the beach and tan under the hot summer sun. It was a great summer to so such things, guess that would be part of his plans as well for this summer.

He changed out of his ragged and wrinkled up blue shirt and his joggers into a blue and white stripped buttoned-up shirt, paired with his favourite pair of black pants. The waistband definitely felt a little looser around his waist, the shirt appearing to be a little bigger than he last remembered it to be.

He had lost a lot of weight, since his diet and meals have been going haywire. There was no fixed schedule for his meals. Only if he was hungry and felt like eating, he would eat. His mother was concerned with his lack in appetite, but she didn't want her son to forcefully swallow his food just because he has to. It would be an awful sight for her to witness.

Sean chucked the car keys from the nightstand into his pockets, writing a note and leaving it on his mom's phone before heading to the garage.

"Hey mom,

I'll be heading out to help Bailey pick up someone from the airport. Since she can't drive, I'll be driving them back. I will get something to eat later since I will probably get hungry. Text me when you wake up okay? I love you mom. <3

He pushed the keys into where it belongs and turned them until the car was able to start up. Sean's hands roamed around the shape of the steering wheel, since it had been a long time since he stepped foot into his Jeep.

He made sure everything was still in working condition. The horn, the lights, the radio, the accelerator, and especially the brakes. Once everything seemed okay and ready to go, Sean pressed on the accelerator and headed down to Bailey's home, with the help of his GPS.

Beep! Beep!

Bailey kissed her mom's cheek one last time before rushing towards Sean's Jeep. Sean reached out from his driver's seat and pushed open the door for her, making it easier for her to come in.

"Good morning Bailey. It's been an unhealthily long time since we've said that huh? It's always been 'good afternoon' or 'good evening'." Sean joked, waking up the half awake girl who was starting dozing off after sitting down for less than a minute.

"Good morning Seanie. Let's head off, shall we? Thank goodness LA traffic is not as bad at this time. LA is literally like a nocturnal creature. Sleeps in the day and becomes active through the night." Bailey smiled, before plugging her phone into the USB port of the car.

"Play us one of your road trip playlists. I bet that's gonna keep us awake for the whole drive." Sean requested and Bailey scrolled through all her Spotify playlists to find a good one to blast.

"Roll down the windows, let's get the party started!" Bailey cheered and Sean clicked the button to roll down all the windows, before turning up the volume of the speakers and blasting the good tunes.

Energy bounced off the walls of the car and they both sang along to all the songs, from Olivia Rodrigo's to Tate Mcrae's. All of the songs from their talented friends were amazing to sing along to. It made the both of them very proud to know that they can call them someone they actually know inside out.

"All I did was try my best, this is the kind of things I get, unrelentlessly upsettttttt. Ah ah ohhh." Bailey and Sean sung along with Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo and bopped their head to the drums in the background of the song.

Sean parked his car perfectly in the first try, which surprised him since he hadn't even came close to touching his car for a long time.

Bailey and Sean jumped out of the car and quickly rushed over to the entrance of the airport, since traffic ended up being slightly chaotic despite the time of day and they only had 10 minutes left till the plane arrives.

"Come on Bailey! No time to adjust your hair now, you can do that later. Your friend is arriving real soon. Besides, we still have a little bit of running left to do, so adjust it after." Sean sighed and dragged her by the arm towards the gate.

"Coming, coming!" Bailey left her baby hairs dancing in the air as she ran and ignored the fact that she was looking like a whole mess.

"There she is! The one wearing a grey beanie with a black hoodie. Long brown hair, with some lighter streaks in them. She's collecting her luggage." Bailey pointed at someone and tried to help Sean identify her.

"Bailey, it's impossible for me to tell from here...but she's going to have to walk out anyways so I'll see her either way." Sean shrugged and waited, while watching the overjoyed Bailey, who suddenly gained a large burst of energy, flailing her arms desperately to get her friend's attention.

As she walked out of the gate, Bailey dropped her bags and rushed to hug her. And all it took was her name to realise who this petite sized girl was, who was standing right in front of him.

"Kaycee Rice! Welcome home, sweetheart." Bailey wrapped her arms around her neck and happy tears flowed out of her eyes. Kaycee, overwhelmed with the warmth of her soul sister, cried along with her.

"Ricebowl, is that you?" Sean paused in his tracks, wanting to make sure it was her. The girl who was his whole world and made him smile the widest just by being around.

"Shamu!" Kaycee smiled, before giving him the strongest squeeze she could possibly give him with her arms.

"It's been a long time, Ricebowl. I thought I will never see you again." Sean pulled her closer, before planting a kiss on her forehead, just like how he used to when they were younger.

"We are only a border apart, Shamu. Don't be dramatic." Kaycee giggled, before snuggling in a pair of familiar arms.
