VII. Y/N'S BACKSTORY PT. 6

[The Next Morning...]

She just woke up from her deep sleep.
She woke up to the sun's rays, her eyes couldn't fully open at the time... meaning she slept well enough to not move nor open her eyes all the way.
She noticed the familiar room as if she was back in her own room at some point.

Elysia: "Huh?"
Elysia:  "Since when I was moved to my room?"

She looks around to see if there was any clues that could've led her to her room.
All she knew was she slept as soon as she saw Eden knocked out in bliss because of the expensive tasty wine she drank...
Which was also the culprit of knocking Eden out completely.

Elysia:  "Y/n?"
Elysia:  "I wonder where she's at?"

Elysia moves out of her room, spotting Su first.
Elysia:  "Hey, Su!"
Elysia:  "Good morning!"

Su:  "Hello, Elysia."

Elysia:  "Just one little question."
Elysia:  "Where's Y/n?"

Su:  "..."
Su's smile immediately drops.

Elysia:  "Su?"

Su:  "..."
Su:  "...She won't come back for a while."

Elysia:  "..."
Elysia:  "Huh?"
Elysia:  "Why?"

Su:  "Y/n told me to tell you when she left, that she will be going on a long mission, that will take at least more than a week to accomplish."
Su:  "But it's a dangerous one at that, and the fact that Y/n didn't let Doctor MEI send any other flame-chasers with her means..."
Su:  "That she's planning on disposing herself for the greater good..."

Elysia:  "..."

Elysia's smiling demeanor was now completely dropped.
She couldn't believe what she just heard.
Her friend...
Possibly sacrificing herself for a mission?
That's ridiculous.
Yet these words of truth coming from Su, it was hard to imagine that he was lying about all of this.

Su:  "..."

A moment of silent passes.
Elysia breaks the silence.

Elysia:  "...Why?"
Elysia:  "Why did she not let me know of this before?"
Elysia says with a soft hurting voice.

At that moment, Elysia felt something of peer pressure weighing on her heart.
She couldn't take the pain from hearing the news about her own friend.

Su:  "Here is a letter she wrote, for your eyes only."
Su firmly states, handing Elysia the closed and tidied letter.

Elysia opens it and starts reading it silently...

"In order to fully grasp myself of this new power and development, I made a choice to go out to the frontlines and find out what I'm capable of."
"Even if I'm by myself, or paired with others."

"But for this specific mission, this is something that none of you can take for yourself, even for our strongest warrior."
"That's why I decided to go."
"I took that risk even though I know I might not make it back."

"I'll be the one to say this..."
"Elysia, Eden, Aponia, Sakura, Pardofelis, Kevin, Su, Griseo, Hua..."
"Everyone in the Flame-Chasers..."
"I will never forget that I'm grateful to you all."
"Because of you all, you are all too precious for me to lose and I will not forget a second when you all have accepted me as one of your own."

"And..."
"That I will be leaving to a mission by myself to deal with something that is out of your reach."
"But this mission needs to be done."
"Yet I didn't tell anyone of this such because I did t want you all to worry..."
"I regret saying this..."
"I'm sorry for not telling you all."
"I'm sorry..."
"I'm very sorry..."
"I'm really sorry..."
"I'm so so sorry..."
"I don't know how many times I need to, but I will apologize as much as I need to."

"But most importantly..."
"Please don't ever forget..."
"Relay this to everyone as well..."
"I love you all dearly, as wonderful precious friends of mine."

"I have two wishes, only two."
"To my first wish, this is how I want everyone to welcome me when I make my return, that I made it home safely and soundly."
"When I return from my mission, I hope to return in everyone's warming spirits and arms."
"You know how I get when I'm lonely sometimes, especially within a long timeframe."
"So please, go all out, I will gladly reciprocate the return."

"To my second wish, Elysia, we have never once went on a mission together as a pair, haven't we?"
"When I do come back, let's promise to go on our first paired mission together."
"Just as you exaggerate, consider it as our first date."

Silence was filled between Su and Elysia.

Elysia reads the letter over and over again...
Words, sentences, phrases.
Nothing came from her except for one name...

Elysia:  "..."
Elysia: "Y/n..."
Elysia finally sighs out a breath she held in for a while.
It was deep, her gaze was as if in a dark cloudy daze, reading the contents of the letter over and over again.

Elysia had mixed feelings.
Not just of the drowning wrenching writing she was given in letter form, but the fact her precious friend, Y/n, was out wherever she was.
No clue of where she's at, is on a dangerous road of destruction that might not bring her back.

She deeply frowns, as if fate like this wasn't supposed to happen to the two of them.
They were supposed to be one happy pair, inseparable friends, but this one significant suicide mission took it all away from them.

Elysia:  'This is... so cruel...'

Elysia had some deep thoughts.
'When will I see her again...?'
'Will she never come back?'
'I need to go and find her, but where is she...?'
'When will be the day...
She'll return to us...?

Despite these dark thoughts, Elysia knew.
This is too cruel for any fragile girl.

Su: "Will you be fine, Elysia?"

Elysia: "Yes, I will wait for her return, no matter how long it takes.
Elysia: "We still haven't done anything outside of work, and I want to do normal things with her when she comes back."
Elysia:  "Maybe then, I will wait for my dear friend's return."

...

Elysia: "Because as her friend, to hope for the best..."
Elysia: "That's all I can do for now."
