34. ELYSIAN REALM: THE EIGHTH TRIAL

In the Elysian Realm...
Mei had just cleaned out the fourth floor of the realm.
Simple, easy, and quick.

She kept herself busy...
Thinking of the green-haired individual.

There were so many things and points Mei couldn't get about her.
This shadow show that has been put upon the successor...
Ever since the meet of Mobius, she has been wary of her.
Mei has been too suspicious of her saying...

[Mobius: "Sacrifices are necessary for humanity's survival."]

The memory with empty words clearly reminiscences into Mei's mind, and repeated itself over and over.
The thought of it makes her feel empty.
Even so, does it even cross Mobius's mind, or she's just saying that to get Mei off her tail?
It just felt too weird and uneasy for her...
Wondering if this certain Flame-Chaser had a secret plan that she doesn't know of.

Mei realized she had no time to think it here.
She needs to go and continue the process of the Elysian Realm.

Just then, Mei comes over to the two portals.
They structured themselves in front of her, showing the Signet of Gold, and the Signet of Infinity.

But, something about these portals...
Not just the signets on them...
But the entirety of the portals themselves...
It looked different.
To the ones she usually sees, as if they were discolored of some kind.

Mei: "These portals..."
Mei: "Are they safe to go through?"
Mei: "..."
Mei: "We'll just have to see."

Without hesitation, Mei activates the portal of Gold and moves on into the fifth space.

...
In the fifth space, she finally makes it there.
The color of the yellow beautiful trees and the beautiful bright yellow scenery around them, it was just breathtaking.

However...

GLITCH!

The color of the yellow beautiful trees and the beautiful yellow scenery...
It all had changed within the eyes of the lightning herrscher.
The sky, the trees, their leaves, their branches, even their roots...
They all went from a beautiful glowing blurry yellow to an abstract clear color of themselves.
The sky was now an off light blue, their leaves were now lavender purple color, their branches were now a darker brown of themselves, and the roots now showed a glowing green color on them, as if their properties have changed.

Mei saw this happening and questions it immediately.
Mei: "This is..."
Mei: "I've never seen this in the realm."
Mei: "Have I reached a new area, or..."

???: "No, something did go wrong with the Elysian Realm."
A stranger's voice echoes into the communications.

Mei: "Who's there?"
Mei questions it sternly.

???: "No time to explain."
???: "Anyway, the memories that this area was built upon are now problematic, which impairs your sentience and self-recognition."
???: "So, from now on, try not to rely on common sense."

Between the unknown's words, the ticking of machines could be heard, giving Mei a sense of the stranger's surroundings.

???: "Follow my instructions and I'll take you back to reality."

Mei: "...Why should I trust you?"

???: "Uh..."
???: "You don't have to trust me."
???: "Just do as I say."
???: "It's usually more efficient this way."

Mei: "You should at least identify yourself."
Mei: "I can't blindly follow the advice of a stranger."

???: "..."
???: "Whether you know my name or not, it will make little difference to you."
???: "Test subject, you should worry more about your own situation."
