Shikadai POV
"So, what's the mission" I asked as I stepped forward. "Your mission is to protect these two people from the Sand Village and bring them here to the Hidden Leaf" My Dad stated handing both of us a photo of who we would be guarding. I looked at my photo, it was a girl with raven black hair and bright blue eyes. One eye being covered up by her wavy-ish maybe curly hair, it was short and she was extremely pale but she was still pretty. I looked over at Boruto's picture, it was a boy with blond spiky hair but even so, it looked slinky in a way. He had soft pitch black eyes a hand on his hip with a finger up on his cheek.
It almost made me roll my eyes, I haven't even met the guy and he already look self absorbed. "Bring as many Genin as you can get, they're very important so failure is not an option, you must protect them at all cost" my Dad told us. "Shikadai, you will be in charge of all the Genin so it will be your responsibility alone if something happens to go wrong" Lord Seventh mentioned. "Their twin siblings, they're fifteen years old and they're a vital asset to the Hidden Leaf, we already know that the Otsutsuki clan are after power and mass amounts of chakra...those twins have been born with extraordinary abilities so it's best to keep them close to the Hidden Leaf so they can be under our protection from the Otsutsuki clan's grasp" my Dad explained the situation. "So we're both counting on you all to protect and bring them back to the Hidden Leaf village, usually I would be sending Jonins for this but they're already busy with the investigations on Otsutsuki clan already so it will be up to you two to bring them here safely" Lord Seventh finished.
I nodded in understanding, "understood" I muttered. "You can count on us, ya know" Boruto said reassuringly. It didn't take long for us to leave the Hokage's office and head back to Denki's room in the Kaminarimon Company. It was there we met up with everyone again, "so...how did it go" Sarada asked. "The Hokage gave us a mission that involves us going to the Sand village to become bodyguards for these twin siblings and bring them back to the Hidden Leaf village so they can be under the protection of the Hokage" I explained. "Wow, I can't believe that happened, so what now" Denki questioned.
"Now, I'm in charge of rounding up all the Genin I can find and head to the Sand village so we can visit Gaara and take those twins home with us" I answered. "Don't forget, we need to find my brother while we're there" Boruto added. "Yeah, that too" I said nodding at Boruto, "so, we'll leave as soon as we get all of our stuff together, meet me at the gate" I ordered. Iwabee chuckled, "Roger that" he said saluting before he ran off and jumped out the window. I hummed, "well, that's it for this meeting, we'll meet up again at the gate" I said before soon heading off back to my home.
~Time Skip
"You're late" I heard the dark voice that loomed above me. Sending chills down my spine, "I'm sorry mom, I have a new mission...I'll be leaving pretty soon" I told her. "I heard, so...how long are you gonna be gone for.." she questioned. "I don't know exactly, it all depends how successful the mission is, we'll be going to the Land of Wind so it might take awhile, maybe little over a week or so" I answered as truefully as possible. "Well then, you should eat up before the food gets cold" she replies, glaring at me just slightly. I nodded sitting myself down at the table as I let out a small sigh, what a drag.
Boruto POV
I quickly nommed down my mom's cooking. My tongue getting burned a couple times, "Boruto, slow down..what's got you in such a rush" my Mom asked softly. "Sorry mom, I gotta go, I have a mission" I told her. "A mission, okay I understand but slow down before you choke on your food" she warned. I sighed, "fine" I muttered as I ate more slowly. "Big brother, what's your mission about" Himawari asked curiously. "Me and my friends will be protecting twins from the Sand village and bring them back to the Hidden Leaf village to keep them safe and sound" I explained.
"Hmm...an escort mission, I don't think I've ever seen you so excited about an escort mission" my mom pointed out slowly. "It's nothing, it's just that my whole class is practically going.." I told her. "Hmm, your whole class huh..you're not hiding something from me..are you" she questioned slowly. Creeping up closer to my side, making me slightly nervous, "ah-ahm, no, of course not" I muttered quietly. I looked down at my watch,"shoot, I'm gonna be late, sorry mom but I gotta go" I shouted as I quickly downed the rest of my food. I ran up stairs, grabbing my bag and everything I thought was important for this trip.
"Bye Mom, Bye Himawari, I'll see you when my mission is done" I shouted back at them as I ran to the gate. "Bye big brother, good luck on your mission" Himawari shouted from her seat in the kitchen.
3rd Person POV
"Bye Boruto, good luck" she shouted back to her son. As Hinata waved her son off she noticed something had fell out of Boruto's bag. She quickly picked it up, "wait Boruto, you dropped something" Hinata called out but her son was long gone. Before she could run after him, she looked down at the envelope that had been ripped open. That's when she saw that it was for Naruto, not Boruto, it was from the Sand village. Didn't Boruto say he was going to the Sand village for his mission, Hinata thought.
She pulled out the letter from the already opened envelope. Quickly scanning the words written down before her eyes began to widen.
No way. . .
