~Chapter 37

Boruto POV

When we arrived I didn't know where to start, my mind was jumbled up. I didn't know what to think anymore and Sarada has been quiet ever since we left for the mission. I wanted to talk to her earlier about what she was talking about but I never got the chance. "Boruto, are you listening" Konohamaru spoke with crossed arms. I flinched slightly when I realized everyone was looking at me. "Ah....sorry" I blurted out, holding a grin as I laughed nervously.

"As I said, my team will search within the village, Orochimaru is being kept somewhere nearby here......he's being kept under twenty four hour surveillance but he still might have some useful information about the Otsutsuki..your job is to figure out what he knows" Sai stated. Konohamaru nodded as Sai's team split off from ours, that just left the three of us. Having one member short, I wondered how Mitsuki was doing, it's already been so long since I last seen him. I hope he's doing alright, Konohamaru lead us to the familiar sight, where I first met Orochimaru. We checked in with Yamato before being allowed inside to talk with Orochimaru. Who was wandering around freely inside, Orochimaru soon greeted us in the hallway.

Welcoming us inside, I always felt a bit weirded out by him and that was before I knew what Mitsuki was. Now thinking of that, I need to know, did he have anything to do with the twins. If so, why would Dad allow for such an experiment, it's not morally right so Dad couldn't have known, could he. As we were walking with Orochimaru ahead of the pack he stopped midway. "What's the deal" Konohamaru asked, "oh little Konohamaru, I know you're not here for a friendly chat, so what is it that your team wants from me" Orochimaru asked bluntly. "We want to know what is your knowledge on the Otsutsuki" Konohamaru stated after a brief moment.

Orochimaru chuckled, "I'll answer your question if you answer mine" Orochimaru stated. There was another brief silence between them, "what's your question" Konohamaru asked. Orochimaru grinned, "what has happened to my Mitsuki" he asked. The silence was a lot more than brief this time around though, Konohamaru looked too stunned by the question to speak. So I took initiative, "Mitsuki has been captured by the Otsutsuki, that's why we need your knowledge to rescue him" I told Orochimaru. He didn't seem to bat an eye to this knowledge, his face was straight until it edged into laughter.

"Oh Boruto, I already knew that, what I want to know is....why has it taken the Hokage so long to make arrangements to save my Mitsuki" Orochimaru asked, almost coldly, as he stared Konohamaru down. I didn't want to say it but I had to say it or otherwise, Orochimaru might not help us. "My Dad......the Hokage, had fallen ill, he's only recovered recently" I stated, not mentioning the part that he mysteriously ran from the Leaf upon waking up. "So what you're telling me is that, the Leaf Shinobi are useless without their Hokage's word" Orochimaru mocked. "That's enough Orochimaru, now answer our question" Konohamaru demanded. Orochimaru let out a huff of a laugh, "I don't know much about the Otsutsuki but I heard that a pair in white cloaks have been seen traveling through here, one being pulled along by chain..." Orochimaru finally answered.

"In which direction were they heading" Konohamaru questioned. "I believe they were heading towards the Land of Lightning" Orochimaru confirmed. "Let's go, we got what we came for" Konohamaru stated, trying to get us to follow him out. "Wait" I muttered before I could think as I turned back around to face Orochimaru. "There's something I need to know" I stated, Sarada suddenly grabbed my arm. "Boruto, we should leave" Sarada spoke to me for the first time since what happened with the twins.

"What is it you wish to know"  Orochimaru asked, looking at me with a pleased expression. "Do you have anything to do with Haruto and Saki, are they another one of your sick experiments" I demanded answers, Sarada released me, halting her attempts to stop me. Orochimaru smiled fondly, "well those are names I haven't heard from in awhile, although I have nothing to do with their arrival into this world.....though some might say I was an indirect contributor....truthfully they were just a twist of fate" Orochimaru stated. But I wasn't convinced, "you know more about this than you're letting on" I grumbled with tight fists at my side. It was at that moment, that the conversation took a turn that even I didn't expect. "Tell me, Boruto, what do you think would happen if someone were to become a Jinchuriki at birth" Orochimaru asked.
