Boruto POVI headed to the gate as quickly as I could, seeing all my friends waiting for me. "Hey Boruto, you're late" Shikadai said with narrowed eyes. "Sorry, I was eating with my mom, you know how she is if I didn't eat" I apologized, grinning sheepishly. "Come on already Boruto, you're the one who got us in this mess in the first place anyways" Sarada grumbled. "Well guys, let's get a move on" I shouted as I smiled as we head out.
~Time Skip
"Uh, I can't believe you Boruto, now thanks to you we have to walk the rest of the way" Sarada complained. "I said I was sorry what more do you want from me..." I groaned. "The next Thunder Train won't arrive in a few hours" Mitsuki mentioned. "Yeah, you're right, at this rate it would be better if we just walked" Shikadai said, nodding in agreement. "Unbelievable" Inojin groaned as he sighed in frustration. "Well, no point in complaining, let's get a move on" Inojin shouted as he began walking ahead on the sand.
So that's how we ended up walking and following the train tracks to the sand village. It was so tiresome and the sun was blazing hot, I drank some of the water from my canister. "Ahhhh, I don't know how much longer I can walk, IT'S TOO HOT~" ChoCho grumbled. "Quit complaining, this is a mission too ya know, we're not just here for Boruto's brother anymore...this is an official mission the hokage himself gave us so keep moving.." Shikadai scolded. We continued heading in the direction of the sand village until Shikadai suddenly stopped causing me to bump into him. "Ah, HEY, what's the big idea..why did you stop" I grumbled.
Shikadai raised his hand, I jumped back pulling out my kunai. "What's the matter Shikadai, are there enemies up ahead" I whispered to Shikadai. Shikadai shook his head, "then what is it" I asked, still keeping my guard up. "Look at the sand" he instructed, I looked down at the sand now that I put my attention to it. I noticed how the wind was blowing the sand away. I raised an eyebrow, "what about it" I questioned.
Shikadai sighed, "we need to find shelter fast, the wind has picked up so that means there's a sandstorm coming our way, if we don't find shelter soon we'll get caught up in the middle of it and get lost" Shikadai announced to everyone. "Everyone, follow me quickly" Shikadai shouted as he ran quickly on the sand, away from the train tracks kinda had me worried for a second. We soon took shelter in a cave Shikadai found and set up camp there. It wasn't long when the sandstorm had started and we couldn't even see outside our cave due to the sand blowing by. "Jeez Shikadai, how did you know a sandstorm was gonna happen" Iwabee asked. Shikadai chuckled, "well, when your mom is a sand shinobi, you pick up on a few things" Shikadai answered.
I laughed, "your mom is so strict" I said in between laughter. Shikadai punched me in the shoulder, "so is yours" Shikadai snapped back. "I can't see your mom not being strict, she is apart of the Hyuga clan after all.." Iwabee butted in. "Yeah they say that but even so, my grandpa is such a softie when it comes to me and Himawari" I replied as I laid back. Shikadai smiled at me as he sighed, "well everyone should rest up, we'll head out at night when the sandstorm passes by" Shikadai said as he leaned back and closed his eyes. So just like that everyone had gone to sleep waiting for the sandstorm to end.
Night had soon fallen, I was just staring up at the ceiling. Lost in my thoughts, "ya still up" I flinch before looking at Shikadai. Who was on his side, holding his head in his hand as he stared at me. I sighed, "yeaaah" I groaned as I moved my gaze back up at the ceiling. "What's wrong" Shikadai asked quietly so not to wake up everyone. I sighed, "it's nothing, I'm just thinking about something" I mumbled.
After a moment of silence, I sat up, "Shikadai" I whispered as I turned to look at him. He quickly sat up beside me, "yeah" he whispered back as he raised an eyebrow at me. I leaned back against the rough stone wall, "do you think I'll even recognize my brother" I asked. Shikadai shrugged his shoulders, "don't know, there's only one real way of finding out...who knows, your brother might not even look like Lord Seventh" Shikadai answered. I groaned, "damn it, how am I gonna find my long lost brother if I don't even know what he looks like" I grumbled at sighed in frustration. Shikadai wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "hey don't worry about it, if you ask me, you'll know them once you met them...afterall, it's not all about looks, it's about the bond you feel with them..right..." Shikadai said reassuringly.
I sighed, "I guess you're right but even so, how will I know if I have a bond with them" I asked. Shikadai stayed silent for a moment, "you'll feel a connection with them like you met each other in another lifetime, it will just feel right...I trust that you'll make the right judgement" Shikadai whispered. I smiled softly at him, my long time bestfriend. I put my head on his shoulder, "thanks Shikadai" I muttered as I felt warm in the comfort in his presence. I chuckled, "I bet if we met each other in another timeline..we'd still be the best of friends" I whispered. His body vibrated as he tried to laugh quietly, I laughed as well having a hard time trying to stay quiet.
We laughed together, soon calming down as we stared at each other. "If your gonna make out can you not do it in front of me" a voice had grumbled out catching the two bestfriends off guard. I instantly moved away from Shikadai as I glared daggers at Inojin as my face flared up. "What the hell, Inojin" Shikadai almost yelled out as he was glaring at Inojin too. Inojin lifted his hands in defense, "hey, I was only just saying" he exclaimed. "That's no where near what was going on" Shikadai grumbled.
"Yeah, don't just say some weird shit like that out of the blue" I snapped back. I rolled my eyes as my face grew red from pure embarrassment. Shikadai stood up from where he was sitting as he crossed his arms. "EVERYONE, get up, we're heading out" Shikadai announced over the several groans. Shikadai pulled out his hand to help me up, "we're heading off now" he said. Shikadai put his hand on my shoulder as he smiled softly at me.
"And we're gonna find your brother..even if it becomes a total drag" Shikadai reassured me as he grinned to himself. As we got everyone up, we were quick to head out in the cover of night. Heading back to the train tracks to continue our journey.
