The girl opens her eyes and squints out her window. Her eyes are thin lines, trying their best to look in between the cracks of her blinds.
Nayeon catches a hint of yellow.
'That's not right'
Her window faces nothing but grey cement, it's impossible for pieces of color to naturally seep into her bedroom.
She pushes herself off her bed. She nearly faints from the weakness of her body, but she clings to the wall and opens the blinds. And her window flashes a wave of yellow.
Nayeon stares at the window from the inside. She places her hand on the window, wanting to touch the familiar sight.
There are dozens of yellow paper cranes taped to the exterior of Nayeon's window.
Nayeon finally gives her body the command to move, there's a bit of life instilled back into her heart.
One by one Nayeon picked and unfolded each yellow paper crane off her bedroom window.
"Enjoy the soup"
"Let's play Legos"
"Please eat"
"Let us help you"
"I miss you"
"I promised to take care of you"
"You are not alone"
"I'm sorry"
"Don't force yourself to suffer"
"You can let me in"
"Nayeon. Don't go"
"I won't leave you"
Puddles fill Nayeon's eyes and she covers her mouth to muffle her sobs.
'Mina'
After Jeongyeon stopped by Nayeon isolated herself for another 2 days, but allowed Jeongyeon to drop off food for her. She had completely forgotten about Mina. She misses her.
Nayeon doesn't know what overcomes her but she instinctively begins to run to Mina's house. She can't possibly make it to her house in her condition but she desperately needs to see the girl.
She sprints and sprints. The sky rumbles as rain begins to pour down. Nayeon begins to cough and grip the stone walls of the street as she continues uphill to Mina's place.
"Nayeon?"
As if a genie had granted Nayeon's wish, Mina seemed to have magically appeared in front of Nayeon.
Mina stares at the girl in front of her. Nayeon is nearly unrecognizable. Her skin is discolored, her cheeks have been hollowed out, and her hair is matted wet. Tears are rushing down her pale cheeks. Yet Mina can't help but think Nayeon is beautiful.
"M- mina" Nayeon's voice cracks in pain and she rushes into Mina's arms
Mina catches her as Nayeon's body collapses onto her. Nayeon tightly grips Mina's t-shirt. She sobs and sobs. Her tears soaking Mina's already wet shirt from the rain. Nayeon coughs and struggles. All of her grief just poured out.
Mina's gut wrenches at the sight of the emotionally destroyed Nayeon.
Nayeon starts to act up shaking her head violently and landing soft blows on Mina.
"She- she- left me Mina
WHYY. H- how how could she leave her daughter like this?"
"Hey! Hey! Listen to me"
