Nayeon's POV
*knock knock knock*
"It's open~!" I croak out
The front door creaks open but I don't turn my head to look at the visitor. I squint my eyes towards the television, that appears as a blurry swirl of colors.
"Yah! How much have you drunk already?"
Jeongyeon towers in front of me. Her hands sassily rest on her hips. This is the 4th night in a row she's come over to check on me, and each time she gets to witness my limp body surrounded by soju bottles.
"Not enough." I respond
She lets a breath of disappointment before taking a seat on the floor next to me. She takes a soju bottle out of my hand and replaced it with a plastic water bottle.
"What happened between you and Mina?"
I clench the bottle and it releases a tense crushing sound.
"Nothing"
"Are you sure?"
I turn to face Jeongyeon who has an eyebrow raised at me.
"It doesn't matter...
I don't matter" I mutter under my breath
"She's going on a date tomorrow"
I watch and clench the water bottle to the edge where it could pop and gush water everywhere.
"So?" I let out
"You won't do anything?"
"Mina can do whatever she wants, I'm not her girlfriend"
"You could be"
I release my grip on the water. Suddenly my body feels weak.
I could never be Mina's girlfriend. Why? Because she will never, ever, love me the way I love her.
I stay silent. I don't have the courage to tell Jeongyeon she's wrong. It hurts to admit my place out loud.
"How long are you going to ignore her?"
So Jeongyeon knows Mina's been contacting me. That means Mina is telling our friends about the situation. Jeongyeon already knows what happened.
"Until I stop loving her"
*SLAP*
"What the hell?!"
My hand covers the warm patch on my cheek that Jeongyeon just slapped.
"Paboya!"
"Why would you do that??"
"Cause you're dumb!"
"How!"
Jeongyeon let's out a laugh without answering me.
"What's so funny?" my voice is serious
"How stupid you are"
"Call me stupid one more time."
Jeongyeon's lips turn into a cocky smile.
"You have to be stupid to try to fall out of love with Mina"
I wasn't expecting that.
"First. You could never stop loving her.
Second. Mina is finally available after 8 years of loving her and now you're stopping? You didn't even try to court her"
"Yes I did—"
"Telling her your feelings is one thing, but making her fall for you is another"
I fail to respond.
"Listen Nayeon, just talk to Mina before you lose her again"
