Mina's POV

"She still hasn't answered?"

I shake my head no. It's been 2 days since I reached out to Nayeon to thank her.

"Are you sure you two were on good terms when she left?" Momo asked

"I thought so at least"

Our friendship had its ups and downs back then, but that was nobody's fault. The world was unkind to Nayeon. I can't fathom the unimaginable pain Nayeon went through back then. Losing one of your parents is one thing. Losing the other in a long battle that you tried to save is another.

She worked hard during the day and trained during the night. Yet even through all her struggles, she went through the hallways with a bright smile that everyone in the school loved. She had an irresistible charm that brought happiness to everyone around her even though she was sad and lonely on the inside.

I guess that's why I fell in love with her back then.

Nayeon was once my person. She made me infinitely happy in every moment I spent with her. She protected and cared for me unconditionally. Her sudden absence in my life was a lot to handle. I missed her. A lot. But I eventually recovered.

I got closer to the rest of Twice. I graduated and went on to bigger and better things. I eventually met Seungkwan who I have fallen for. He can be unreliable and scary at times, but most of the time he's a sweet boyfriend. How could I possibly ask for more when he's an international idol and the man of every girl's dreams? I would be stupid to be unsatisfied with my relationship with him.

Slowly but over time I got used to life without Nayeon. She became a person of the past. A person I once loved, but never stopped caring for. So why on earth is she ignoring me?

"Hmmm, maybe she's just really busy Mitang"

"She did just get back, she might just be trying to get settled and adapted. I don't think you've done anything wrong so don't worry too much"

Sana and Momo always know how to make me feel better. The two of them looked after me especially after Nayeon left. They're my Japanese sisters.

"It's okay, it was just an offer after all"

An offer I wish she had taken. I may not love her anymore but I still want to catch up with an old friend like everyone else.

"Mina the delivery guy came by to drop this off for you"

I'm drenched in sweat as rehearsals have become longer and more intense as the ballet's premiere was just around the corner.

"Thank you Kazuha"

It was a big surprise when I found out Kazuha would be my costar in my upcoming ballet. It had been years since I last saw her. We were good friends in high school since we were the best two ballerinas in Hanlim. When I graduated before her we lost contact.

I remember when I had to reject Kazuha. I knew there was no chance I was going to fall for her or even give her a chance, not when my heart was heartbroken from Nayeon.

Thankfully, Kazuha was really understanding. She matured a lot after Nayeon's apparent confrontation. Now we're casual coworkers.

"Another fan present?"

"Probably"

It wasn't unusual for fans to drop off gifts to the dance company. However, this small cubic cardboard box felt unusually light thought, empty almost.

I wave Kazuha bye as I gently pick at the clear packaging tape. The box is completely blank except for the address of my company building. The fan didn't leave a trace of themselves.
