Metamorphosis

Chapter 6

Saturday morning, 8 am. Today is the day of my 18th birthday party. Everyone from school is coming according to the men that I live with. Landon was up for hours last night making sure that everything involving decoration, food, and party favors was all in order. While Connor was in charge of guests, games, and music, both of them chose the venue. These boys made sure that everything was perfect to the T for today.

" Nevada, come down for breakfast. We made your favorite," yelled Landon from downstairs.

Landon was the cook in the family. He did literally all of the cooking and wouldn't let Connor or I cook. Connor was in charge of interior decorating and making sure the house stayed spotless for everyone who visited.

" Connor, those gifts were amazing and that ring is exquisite," I said in awe.

" It was really no big deal. I thought I would get you a ring just as sparkly and bright as you," responded Connor with a smile.

Today was just full of surprises. First Landon made me pancakes. Second, Connor got me a hair stylist and a make-up artist. For lunch we got food from my favorite place and got my favorite dessert. When we got back home, my makeup was touched up and a limo arrived at 3. This limo was so big it could sit at least 20 people. The limo was in my favorite color, blue of course. The windows were tinted enough that you could see out of it but people couldn't see in them. It was great.

" Happy birthday Nevada," said Connor with a grin on his face.

" We wanted you to have everything you wanted for your very special birthday. You only turn 18 once," Landon had stated while looking at Connor.

We had arrived at the location that the party was happening at.

" This place is huge!" I had said almost immediately crying with excitement.

We had walked on through the double doors into the entryway towards the ballroom. The entrance to the ballroom was absolutely breathtaking. It was a large golden archway, almost like something you would see entering the throne room of a god or goddess. All the lights were off and it was pitch black.

" SURPRISE!" yelled the hundreds of people that were in the giant ballroom.

That night I had danced the night away. There was amazing food, people, many gifts, and many surprises in store but none of it felt the same without my dad there. This is the one birthday that he wasn't there for and I didn't like it at all. After what felt like forever, people started to leave. I had taken a step outside to breathe.
