4 hours later......
" Nevada, Landon. Get up. We gotta go. NOW." Connor stated and he lifted me quickly off the bed and held me in his arms.
" What's going on," I asked groggily.
" The seekers. They found us. Like I said, Landon, we gotta go now."
" Let me hold her."
" No. I'm stronger and faster."
" Connor! Let me -."
" Landon. Are we really going to argue about the life of your Nevada and your child?" Landon stood in silence and then gave Connor the okay.
" Wait," Landon stopped Connor and I, " Nevada I will come and find the two of you when it is safe. Protect them with your life."
" I will. You have my word," Connor reassured a distraught Landon.
" Go!"
Connor ran as fast as he could while holding me in his arms. I could hear Connor's heartbeat speed up not only from the running but from anxiety. We stopped for a second so that he could catch his breath. He set me against a tree and sat right next to me.
" Are you hungry?" he asked me as he pulled out a blood bag and handed it to me.
" You drink it. I don't need it."
" Yes you do. I can tell when you're hungry and you're starving. You know it isn't healthy for you or the baby to do that to yourself. You can't be selfish anymore Nevada."
" Where are we going?" I asked before drinking from the bag.
" Somewhere far. A place only I know. If Landon knows about it, it won't be safe anymore," Connor said as he packed his stuff back into the backpack.
" I trust you," I told him when I took his hand before he could fully stand up. He gave me a nod and picked me up again.
He started running again but this time faster as if something was chasing him. Landon told me he would lead them away from us, not towards us. I have to change my course. Let's go left. Again we stopped but the place seemed all too familiar. It seemed like we were running for hours though.
" We're here," Connor said to me as I bent over, almost looking like I was going to puke, " Hey. Are you okay?"
" Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just a little nauseous," I responded, gagging.
I walked further back from Connor and ran into the woods. I stopped and started throwing up blood. Connor ran up right behind me and held my hair back and rubbed my back.
" The blood must not be agreeing with your system but I don't know why it's rejecting it now and not before. We'll get it figured out," he said with a caring tone in his voice.
After I was done, Connor picked me up and walked me inside. It felt and smelled familiar.
" Connor, dear. Bring her upstairs and into the bath," said my grandmother to Connor.
Grandma followed us upstairs and she helped me get undressed and into the bathtub.
" Grandma, I am so sorry. I didn't choose to become this..." I started to say while crying and shaking my head.
She turned my head upward and towards her and she told me, " It isn't your fault princess. Vampires don't ever want to be vampires. Most of them don't have a choice. I just wish they wouldn't have chosen you to become one."
She helped me wash my hair and face. By the end of my bath, the water was almost a red color.
" Is it okay if Connor comes in even though you are indecent?" Grandma asked.
" Yeah, you can bring him in," I told her as I wrapped a towel around myself and walked towards my old bedroom slowly.
Grandma went downstairs to grab Connor to bring him upstairs. I sat on the bed as soon as they walked in. Connor rushed over to me and put my legs on the bed. He sat on the edge of the bed and started to rub my legs while we all sat and talked.
" Have you figured out why this is happening yet, Julie?" Connor asked grandma.
" How would she know what is happening Connor?" I asked him confused.
" Don't judge a book by it's cover dear. I have always told you that," grandma told me as she pulled up a chair and sat next to us.
