I took a few steps forward in the dark, cold room I was in. A large, red door stood at the end. I quickened my steps and sped to the door, taking a good look at it when I finally arrived.

This is definitely a dream.

With difficulty, to my surprise, I attempted to pull on the handle. The door was extremely heavy. I spent a few more moments trying to budge the door open when a crack finally appeared between the door and the hinge. I put my leg in front to prevent it from closing again. After some more vigorous pulling, I eventually managed to slip through to the other side. The door slammed back into place, yet it made absolutely no noise.

Weird.

As soon as I looked up, panic set in. My parents—or what was left of them—were on the floor, bodies bloodied and lifeless. Behind them, moonlight gleamed through a single window. Aside from this, the room was empty and seemed to go on for miles.

I fell to my knees, my mind blank. Tears surged down my face and I could feel them staining my cheeks. I closed my eyes just for them to immediately open again as I awakened.

My breathing was rapid as I sat up, grasping the blankets and sheets. More tears formed in my eyes, this time not in a dream. I looked around the darkened room, attempting to make out a single object. Eventually, my eyes adjusted and focused on Kurapika's face.

For a couple of minutes, I debated on whether I should wake him or not. I wanted him to rest but I desperately needed someone in the moment, pathetic as it sounds.

At long last, I stepped onto the cold floor and traipsed over to his bed, standing over him for a moment and fidgeting with my hands in reluctance. I took a deep breath. "Kurapika?"

He stirred a bit but didn't awake. "Kurapika?" I repeated, relatively louder this time. Finally, he slowly opened his eyes, but only slightly. "What?"

The tears that had not yet fallen were now running in rivulets down my cheeks as I thought about the nightmare I had just had. "I um... had a really bad dream. It was about my parents."

Kurapika took a drawn-out inhale before moving over to the other side of the bed. "It's okay, come here," he whispered, clearly half-asleep.

My eyebrows raised for a moment before falling back down. "Okay," I replied, wiping my tears with my sleeve. I climbed into the bed and pulled the covers over my body, rolling over to face away from Kurapika. Lying down for about a minute, my eyes became heavy again. Just as I was about to drift off to sleep, I felt an arm drape over me. My mind went active again.

Kurapika's... holding me?!?!?

My heartbeat sped up and my face warmed. Nervous fluttering was evoked in my stomach. A smile painted my face and I fell back into slumber in only a few minutes.

My eyes opened to a gap of sunlight peeking between the curtains. Dust particles danced around in the light. I stretched my limbs as a yawn escaped my mouth. I turned to my left to see a sleeping Kurapika, messy hair sticking up in multiple places.

Oh, right... he cuddled me.

But it probably doesn't mean he likes me back. He was just being nice because I had a nightmare. Plus, he was practically half-asleep.

Sighing, I uncovered myself and got out of bed. Kurapika's bed. I dragged myself to the bathroom and got ready for the day. I then collected all of my belongings, packed them away, and sat on my bed ready to return to York New.
