Lloyd felt hollow as he stood in the doorway of his office, watching Denny type on his phone.
"Please pack your bags and return to Washington," Lloyd spared Denny a moments glance, before nodding towards the stairs for Donald to ascend, "I took care of Agent Jones, there's no need for you to be here."
Denny furrowed his eyebrows, setting his phone face down on the desk in front of him. "Took care of her? You mean you finally completed the mission you were set on six years ago?" Lloyd dropped his head, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed the spit that accumulated in his mouth. "Yes Denny, I pushed her into the pond, she can't swim well," a shaky breath left Lloyd's mouth as he looked up at the man in front of him, and he felt the tear slip down his cheek. It was comical, Lloyd Hansen crying over someone, over a mission, over the girl, "I watched the woman I'm in love with drown, are you happy, you got what you wanted, now get the fuck out of my house."
Lloyd didn't give him a chance to respond, quickly climbing the stairs to his room. He passed the spare that Donald was sitting in, passed Nicole and Suzanne sitting in the hallway, loafers hitting the tiled floor and echoing around the stone walls. He needed his room, he needed to see her items to remember she was here, that she was still his in a twisted sort of way. The broken phone on the floor brought peace washing over his body, knees hitting the carpet as he tentatively pulled the broken pieces towards him.
This was a type of pain he wasn't prepared to face, he now knew how it felt when he told Addison that the love he had for her was a lie.
It was agony, this heartbreak. It came in waves, crashing into his heart like a tsunami, wrapping his lungs up in a hurricane. Her loving smile was met with a cold laugh when Donald said that Lloyd loved her, because she didn't believe it, why would she, it didn't tumble out of Lloyd's own mouth. She was his sunshine, Addison brought warmth into Lloyd's life, she brought a smile to his lips he wasn't accustomed to. She was the breath of life that Lloyd desperately needed, his world became dreary, the days she had walked around his home were comforting, they were natural. She bled right back into his life and he made her turn into invisible ink to save herself from heartbreak.
Lloyd could almost feel her presence, sitting on the top of his bed, polo covering her body while she tilted her head in confusion, that crease appearing in her forehead, the one that she got when she was confused. The one that Lloyd had kissed away so many times before. He could almost hear the question that would tumble out of her lips, why so sad bear?
He couldn't stop the sob that ripped from his throat, forehead pressing against he blanket at the foot of the bed, the same one he had wrapped her up in, it smelled like her, tugging on his heartstrings. "Lloyd," Suzanne's voice was so soft as she sunk down next to him, a tentative hand being placed on his bicep, the comfort only served to make Lloyd shake from uncontrolled emotion, "hey, breathe it's okay." Suzanne ran her hand up and down the muscles, trying to soothe him as much as she could. "I lost her," Lloyd choked out, a violent shake taking over his body, "she'll forever hate me, I can't fix this."
"This isn't the Lloyd Hansen I know."
Bloodshot blue eyes shot up to defiant hazel, her arms crossing over her chest. "The Lloyd Hansen I know wouldn't give up, sure, things may be hard, she may try to kill you a few times, may actually shoot you," Lloyd sank back against his heels, running his hand over his mustache to remove the tears that had caught in the hair, "but I know you don't have the heart to kill her, you knew pushing her into that pond Six woulds save her,"
Lloyd looked down, leave it Suzanne to understand his plan without being informed. "I love her."
"I know," Suzanne offered a gentle smile as she rose to her feet, lifting Lloyd up with her, both of them giving a start when Donald appeared before them. "Six sent the drive to Margaret," Donald explained, crossing his arms while he rocked on his heels, "she lives in Prague, if I give you the address you have to promise me one thing, one thing only."
