It was you and Raphs dating anniversary, you have something planned to celebrate it with him. However unbeknownst to you your parents were also planning a surprise visit at your place as they haven't seen you in a while.

You had no idea as you were currently at the cafe, taking orders and making drinks for customers as you were a barista. Business was bustling as always as the cafe was fairly popular in New York City, which could be stressful at times.

As the day went by and you got your paycheck before heading out. You went straight to the subway station to catch a train that went the route of your home so you didn't have to walk home alone. You waited for your stop and then got off when it was time, you walked up the stairs, and continued your merry way towards your apartment.

You got into the building with your pin number and walked inside, you just weren't expecting this other surprise as you walked through your apartment door and were greeted with party blowers in your face. At first you assumed Mikey as he has pranked you once or twice before.. however when you could see you saw your parents, "Mom?....Dad?... What are you doing here?" You asked them in a stunned tone.

They grinned, "We missed you so much pumpkin and decided to drop in for a surprise visit.~" your mother responded.

Your dad smiled and put an arm around his wife, "That's right sweetheart, figured it was prime time for a classic L/N surprise drop in~" he mused.

You chuckled nervously but smiled to not hurt their feelings or give them the impression you weren't happy. It was just unexpected and well un-convenient as out of all days they had to show up on you and your boyfriends secret anniversary. You haven't told your parents about Raph yet as of course you weren't sure how they'd take it as 1 he's a mutant turtle, 2 he's a secret, and 3 your father never let you date men before and tried scaring them off in general.

Your mother looked around your apartment seemingly internally critiquing it, "Oh my god this apartment seriously should consider a interior designer..it's just so...bland." your mother pointed out.

Your father shrugged and smiled at you in response, "I'm gonna order somethin~" he stated which was code for 'I'm not dealing with your mother, it's your turn now' in dad and went to the kitchen to order.

You facepalmed to yourself and sighed, "Mom it is just a income based apartment complex..I'm not allowed to mess with the interior." You explained but it was too late she was already started.

You mother looked at you, "Just because it's income based doesn't mean that should stop anyone from wanting to interior design their own homes so it felt homey..I mean look at this...This apartment speaks sad to me. Where are the colors, the life, the pizazz!" She went off and was already on a roll and you already knew you couldn't stop her.

You sat down with a sigh and listened to your mother complain about the apartment and something about even people living in income based homes deserve the creative right to decorate the insides of their homes with wallpaper or be able to paint it however they want. You kinda just rolled your eyes a bit though as the interior looked just fine to you.

Now you were hoping your parents gotten a hotel and weren't planning to stay at your place, and you felt down as you wanted to spend your first anniversary with Raph with Raph. So you were pretty bummed out as you tuned out your mother.

This wasn't exactly how you had your day planned out, so as much as you loved your parents they can be...quite a nuisance in a sense. They just pop in without asking like they always did and your mother had a knack about sticking her nose in someone else's business. Your dad was pretty alright just a simple man who did carpentry for a living, loved sports, beer, take out food, sleeping, fishing, fixing cars, the whole cliche dad package. Even had the dad bod, beer gut, and a bushy 'stache to match. And he of course loved his wife...to an extent. He loved her but even he thought she was nuts at times.
