A New Friend: Raphael

You started heading home after you finished your last shift at the cafe, you couldn't wait to take off this itchy uniform and stupid high heels that made you feel like you were walking with daggers in your heels.

Other than the sounds of your heels clicking on the sidewalk or the light posts buzzing noises above you, you heard thumping and thudding from the nearby buildings rooftops.

'Raph?...' You thought while looking up.

But it stopped when you stopped and looked.

'must be my imagination..' You thought and looked back forward.

You continued walking ,but the noises resumed.

You stopped again and looked up at the roof above you.

"Raph?..." You exclaimed.

No response..so you continued walking ,but picked up the pace this time.

The noises resumed until you entered your apartment complex and headed straight into your apartment.

"phew.." A relaxed sigh escaped your lips. "I'm finally home.." You told yourself while taking off your heels.

"Indeed.." A hoarse voice responded back to you.

You jumped back and looked around the room in a panic, but only saw Raphael sitting at your counter with a toothpick in his mouth.

"Raph!?" You exclaimed. 

"Yeah?" he responded kinda a bit intimidatingly.

"How'd you even get-..?" You trailed off. "Nevermind, what are you doing here?" You asked.

"Uh, isn't it obvious?" He stood up showing his full height.

You felt a little intimidated by his size, and looked up at him.

"I'm here to check up on you." He put a finger to your nose.

"Check up?.." You questionably mumbled.

"Yeah check up, you could of died yesterday." He answered and crossed his arms.

You looked down thinking about what happened that night, and your stomach churns at the thought.

He must of noticed.

"Though you don't need to worry about." He assures.

"I guess you can think of me as your personal bodyguard.." He adds.

"Oh, alright." You respond kind stunned he'd do that for you.

"Well since you got home safe and sound, I should get going." He heads towards the open window.

"Hey um, Raph was it?" Your words stop him in his tracks.

"Can we um....be friends?" You finally muster.

He pauses and just stares at you, "Yeah sure." He answers and continues heading out your window.

You smile like an idiot and watch him disappear into the night.
