"She's never seen combat before." Kimiko rambled as she watched the house. "What if something bad happens? What if we can't hear her scream? Like, what if they have a soundproof house or a basement? What if--"
"Kim, calm down." Xenia put her hand on her thigh as they crouched across the street from Miles' house in a wooded area toward the front of the two acre property.
Imogen disappeared inside about ten minutes ago and they hadn't heard much more than her greeting her family and playing with the three kids. It wouldn't have mattered if it were ten minutes or ten hours, Kimiko felt on fire with worry.
She spotted Imogen at the window and froze. From just inside, she looked to her side and spoke to Miles. He inched closer and placed a hand on Imogen's shoulder. A growl rumbled in Kimiko's chest and she saw red.
