Calum.
I couldn't stop my mouth from saying a quick "what?" to his question.
His daughter just completely passed out and wasn't waking back up, but yet he's this worried about being able to go to lunch.
"You guys said we could get lunch while her blood ran- we can just go while she gets better and then get her something on the way home-" "you're welcome to go, we will take care of her." Ashton thankfully spoke for me, because I was going to say something with much more attitude.
Ben looked more than angry and I could tell he wanted to say, but he immediately followed his dad out the door, saying a quick "we will be back in an hour."
I looked to Ashton, who's fingers were on Briley's neck, feeling for a pulse.
"I don't know what to think, so don't ask." Ashton mumbled, never looking to me as he checked Briley's vitals.
He gave her blood to a nurse to planed to labs as we continued to try and wake her.
I patted her cheeks lightly, suddenly seeing her eyes reacting.
"Briley, honey you passed out, I need you to open your eyes for me." I spoke, which immediately made her open her eyes, blinking to us with a confused expression.
"My head hurts." She then spoke quietly, moving her hands to her eyes to rub them, flinching lightly when she touched one of her eyes, immediately stopping.
"What's wrong?" I asked he, wondering if she had a migraine.
"Nothing." She spoke simply, slowly sitting up.
"Take it slow." Ashton spoke, holding her wrist for her pulse and helping support her by putting his hand on her back.
"Where are they?" She asked, looking directly to me.
"Lunch" I told her, making her eyebrows furrow together but then it looked as if she physically relaxed.
"Do you feel okay? Lightheaded or dizzy?" Ashton asked her calmly.
"I'm fine" she told him.
He checked her blood pressure again, seeing that it was at the same as it was earlier, which didn't make us feel good, but at least she wasn't getting worse.
"I think you are going to be amazed when you feel how good you're going to feel once we get this blood pressure situation figured out." Ashton spoke, writing in her chart.
"How will you fix it?" She asked him, focusing to my name tag as I stood close to her, just to be sure.
"Depending on what your blood work says- most likely just a pill that you'll take everyday." He spoke calmly.
"There's no other option?" She asked calmly.
"Do we need more options?" He asked her, both of us confused at her question.
"My dad doesn't believe in medicine so the pill isn't going to work" she spoke calmly.
"Does believe in medicine?" I shot to her.
"You know- thinks it's all sugar pills and mind games, he literally won't spend money on medication" she spoke.
"Well- I will stress to him how important this medication is for you-" "you can't tell him that I told you anything though." She spoke at a fast pace.
"Wait- why?" Ashton was suddenly beyond confused
"Listen, I can't explain. But if you guys have any respect for me whatsoever, you will tell them that I barely spoke to you guys- that I only responded to your questions."
