"So what's your big plans then if I don't know them?" I asked as soon as we walked out of her room.

Ashton exhaled

"We are trying to figure out a living situation to where you two do not have to be separated." He spoke firmly.

"Oh great- so it's in question that we are going to be separated" I laughed out.

"Great- she snitched to a man who isn't even trying his hardest to get her in a house nearby-" "the only reason you and your sister would be separated at this moment would be if you continue to be hostile towards Doctor Hood, because Doctor Hood is pretty dead set on fostering or potentially adopting your sister."

I completely froze at his words

"Wait- what?" I asked.

"Doctor Hood is very close with your sister-" "this is weird." I spoke firmly, immediately wondering if maybe Doctor Hood didn't have negative intentions.

"Dont." Ashton spoke, putting his hands on my shoulders.

"You have been abused for very long, mentally and physically. It's going to be very hard for you to take in and accept love and genuine care from men, especially when you see this love and care being directed towards your little sister, who we know you watched endure some serious abuse." He told me calmly.

"But speaking from just what I've seen today and what I've heard the past few weeks- Calum and Briley have a bond and I don't think Calum will ever let the state put your sister in a foster home, but if you can't become comfortable with Calum to at least a potential roommate point, you might end up separated from her."

I swallowed the spit collecting in my mouth, feeling my brain running a thousand miles an hour.

"I'll trust him."

They weren't separating me from her.

"This doesn't have to be an immediate thing, it can and will take time. Your sister still has a few weeks in this hospital. Just try to start thinking about Calum in a more positive light, and as hard as it will be, trust him with your sister. He wouldn't hurt a single hair on her head."

He brought me to my room, letting me sit on the bed.

"I'm going to grab you some lunch, anything specific in mind?" He asked me, handing me the cafeteria options that were printed on a laminated paper.

"Whatever you get" I dismissed

He exhaled lightly

"I'll be back in ten"

After he left, Hemmings came in.

I didn't totally mind Hemmings.

Liked him more than Calum for sure

He sat in a chair across from me, exhaling.

"Want to talk?" He asked me.

"What's that accent?" I asked.

"Australian, all four of the guys have it-" "there's four of you?" I was so confused on all of these people I was meeting today.

"Well- at least thirty doctors actually, but four in just our little friend group, we all live in the same apartment building, neighbors with doors that lead into each other's houses- so we might as well just live together" he laughed lightly.

"And you're all from australia?" I asked.

"Yeah- moved here for the experience and fell in love" he nodded, making me nod slowly.

"What's the cut on the eyebrow from?" He asked, motioning to the one that was now covered with a big bandage from Irwin's stitches.

Roy's ring.

"Kitchen cabinet" I lied.

"You know you can tell me the truth- the police have all the evidence they need to not even need to have a real trial about Roy." He told me.

I glanced to him.

"What evidence do they have besides the injuries we came in with today?" I asked

"Well- Briley came in with a significant amount of injuries regardless, but she also had pictures of the both of you over the past few months." He told me, making me nod slowly.

She was always smart about documenting shit.

"You can't be angry towards her" he told me.

I was so angry.
All we had to do was run away.

Instead we are in this big mess.

"She went through a lot, and I know you know most of it- but that caused a lot of internal struggle that you don't even know about-" "what happened last night?" I asked him.

"What do you mean-" "something happened in her room last night that changed everything- that made her want to tell Calum, what happened, what did he do to her?" I asked.

He exhaled to me.

"I can't tell you that." He spoke.

"She's my little sister-" "and what she has went through for years is absolutely fucking horrible, but we have a law that I can not break and I can not tell you anything that you do not already know." He explained to me calmly.

"But I promise you, when she is ready, she will tell you everything."
