Jealousy Kills || James Potter

Year 5, Chapter 1.

If one were able to look clearly enough, they would've figured out James and Odetta's secret.

That they weren't truly together.

They'd even planned this so amazingly, that it almost seemed real.

They were going to, first, get together. Well now they're past step one.

Second, they were going to convince everyone that they were madly in love, that there was no separating the two. They were currently working on that.

Third, they were going to break up. Their reasoning was going to be that James suspected Odetta of cheating on him with a boy in the year above. Why so specific? Neither knew.

But fourth year had ended, they each all passed their exams.

Lily had gotten all O's, except for two E's in transfigurations and charms.

Marlene got a few E's and and O in transfigurations

Sirius got all E's and 2 A's in Potions and Transfigurations

James got 2 E's, 4 A's, and a P in defence against the dark arts.

Alice got all E's

Peter got all E's and 3 A's

Dorcas got all E's and 2 A's

Odetta got all O's, except for 1 E in Potions.

Everyone was overjoyed when they got their score, happy that they didn't do as bad as they thought they would've.

That summer had been fun for the group of kids. Except for Odetta.

It seemed something changed in her parents minds, and they wanted her to become.. "more well groomed" as they put it. She was restricted from all excess sugar, as she "didn't need to become bigger" as her mom put it. And Odetta was only allowed to eat a strict diet.

Her father never really had a say in anything, all he did was backup her mother when she needed it, as things would get pretty heated between the two females sometimes.

Odetta didn't understand why her parents were making her do this all of a sudden, and she was not having it. She was already still heartbroken about Evan, and having to put up some facade so that Lily would like James back, and everything that had been going on at school along with what happened on Halloween night. She didn't need anything else to worry about.

After having several screaming sessions with her mother and being sent to her room all of those times, and Odetta just sneaking out when that happened, her mother began to grow tired of it.

So what did she do?

She found out about Odetta sneaking out. So, she put bars on her window.

She found about a recent habit Odetta had picked up, smoking. So her mom nic tested her every night.

She found out that Odetta had begun sneaking food that she wasn't supposed to have while her parents were asleep. So, she locked Odetta in her room. Only being let out if she had to use the bathroom, or shower.

Food was brought to her, and it wasn't much either.

Her owl had even been taken away.

What happened to her mother?

But of course, none of her friends knew about her summer. She'd just told them that she'd traveled abroad with her family, and that it was a bit boring, but nothing too bad.

Though, they didn't understand how much of the opposite she meant those words.

At the feast on their first night, all Odetta did was pick around her food. Much like she did on the first night last year. Back then, Odetta was just a bit self conscious, but now she was basically forced into being extremely self conscious, and insecure, due to all the ugly words her mother had shouted at her that summer.
