CLAIRE DEARING STANDS IN AN ELEVATOR HOLDING HER PHONE AND FOUR CUPS OF COFFEE UNDER HER ARM. the elevator dings and chatter continues throughout the office.
the ginger walks through the DPG office handing coffees to each worker as she notices zia rodriguez to be struggling with a woman on the phone.
"claire!" she whispers trying to catch her attention
she takes the phone
"hello. hello, ... congresswoman delgado. i'm claire. i'm the lead organiser here-
of course, but if i could just get a moment of your time? great. thank you. um.." she gives zia a high five
"so, our mission here at the dinosaur protection group is to secure federal funding for a safe, natural...-
"can i ask you a question?-"
"go on."
"do you have kids?-"
"two girls."
"okay. so, your kids, an entire generation has grown up in a world where dinosaurs are living and breathing. but soon they're gonna have to watch them go extinct. or not.. if people like you make a difference..." she sighs "great."
suddenly the news comes on
"claire, it's on." zia shouts
claire speeds over to zia's desk and grabs the remote pressing the volume button multiple times.
"after thorough deliberations the committee has resolved not to recommend any legislative action regarding the de-extinct creatures on isla nublar." the name of the island still gave claire chills four years on.
"this is an act of god. and while, of course we feel great sympathy for these animals, we cannot condone government involvement in what amounts to privately-owned venture."
she keeps a blank face and turns down the volume of the tv.
"they're all gonna die and no one cares." claire says
"we do." franklin webb reassures
her cellphone then starts ringing
"give me one second. let's get back to work."
"okay, everyone come on."
she picks up the phone and answers it.
"hello?-"
"may i speak with ms. dearing?"
