THE DARKNESS ABSORBED ME AT THE SUDDEN DIMNESS.
alan opens the pod and leaves it
"this must be the old amber mines."
"well shit." i mumble
"they must've made access doors when they built these tunnels." ellie suggests
our group of four walk to find a place to kneel down to take out any possible supplies.
i grab a torch which alan had given to me and then handed it to maisie.
we continue onwards then turn the corner following alan's torch.
"this is freaky... surprised we haven't seen a dinosaur yet." i tease
"well don't jinx it." ellie responds
we continue walking on as my eyes drift analysing all the patterns to walls have.
ellie speaks up "did you feel that? that's an air current. there must be an opening ahead."
"that's relieving." i voice
"how old is this mine, do you think?" alan asks
"older than me probably?" i guess
"just breathe." ellie instructs "nobody panic just watch out for bats."
"who said anything about bats?"
"i hate bats." maisie tells us
"snakes are worse." i challenge with a grin
"well, there's probably no bats, no falling rocks. just the possibility of toxic gas, dehydration, hypothermia. just possibilities, nothing for certain."
"thrilling." i remark
"oh, i should've left you where you were. why did i bring you into this?" ellie begins to ramble
"what?" alan questions confused
"you were happy in your element..." she continues
"what?" he repeats
"ellie."
"what."
"i wasn't happy." he confirms
"you weren't?" she asks in disbelief
"do you guys have kids?" maisie asks the couple
"maisie, you don't just ask that." i scold trying to hold in my laugh
"what?"
"uh... no, i- i do. two." ellie tells the girl
"but not with him." she points the torch at alan
"uh... no. no, just old friends."
"just old friends." alan repeats
"really?" maisie asks her response is silence however and we continue forwards.
