Maria stood next to her bed, she was tired but just couldn't crawl into the sheets and sleep. She was staring at him.

Him being Liam, her soulmate. Literally.

They were bound by the words on their wrists that told them the first words they said to each other when they first met.

She watched how peacefully he slept. She hadn't slept like that in months. Not since she realized how much she was endangering Liam.

Maria was an assassin. As much as she'd hate to admit it, she liked her job, but that was before her soulmate came along.

Liam made her feel things, things she had never felt before. When he touched her, he took her to heaven. When he held her her body was a weapon. The way he pleasured her was inhuman, but Maria couldn't help but be infatuated by him.

She wanted to be the only thing he needed. The first thing that he thought about when he woke up and the last thing he thought about before he went to sleep. She wanted him to be hers forever. She wanted to live her life with Liam.

But she knew that her stupid dream would never be realized.

She was an assassin for goodness sake. She killed people, and her being with him made him a target for her enemies.

'Why does he think he can save me?'

Her mind wondered. It had been a while since she told him about her employment. She expected him to freak out, to leave her and call the police. But he did the exact opposite. He supported her, cared for her, accepted her. It seemed like he loved her even more after she told him.

Even though she knew she was a danger to him, she couldn't help but love him so much. But tonight, something happened that finally pushed her towards the edge. And that edge was breaking up with Liam.

She walked towards the door with a heavy heart, not wanting to look back at Liam for the last time. But before she could leave...

"Maria?" She heard his husky voice and tensed, taking her hand off the door handle. She heard the click of the bedside lamp and turned around.

She was in a shadow, hidden away from the light that had just been turned on.

"Liam.....You have no idea of the danger that I put you through."

"What? Maria...You're right, I don't. Because there hasn't been any danger. I'm alive, and-"

"But you wouldn't have been if I hadn't killed those men that are right outside this room!" Maria yelled, sadness and anger in her tone. "What...? What are you talking about?" Liam whispered.

After letting out a shaky breath, Maria stepped out of the shadow, and into the light of the lamp. Liam's eyes widened. There was blood splattered across her cheeks and pajamas, and she had a tight grip on a kitchen knife that was dripping with blood.

After he looked at her for a moment, he ran towards her side, a worried expression on his face. "Oh my god, Maria, are you okay? Did they hurt you?" She held her bloodied face in his hands. Maria pulled her face away from his hands looking down at the floor. "No, they didn't. But that doesn't matter."

"Of course it matters Maria, you coul-"

"Liam! Stop. Please." He watched as she backed away from him, dropping the knife, making a soft thudding noise on the carpet flooring. "Listen...you could've died tonight. Those men that I..killed, I knew them. They were associates of this one cunt I assassinated. They were here for you. They had a fucking picture of you with me and they were going to kill you, Liam." She looked up to see Liam looking at her with a shocked and perplexed expression.

"Look..I can't do this anymore."

Liam's eyes widened. Panic coursing through his veins. "What are you saying? What do you mean?"

"I'm saying, we can't be together. I'm a danger to you, Liam. You know I'm not a saint, and I would damn straight kill myself if you died because my asshole enemies wanted-" She was cut off with a kiss from Liam.

She couldn't help it, she melted into the kiss. It was like their lips were meant to be connected, his kisses always exploded her heart and gave her so many unbelievable emotions that she just couldn't comprehend.

After a few seconds, Liam pulled away, and connected his forehead to hers. He was tall, so he had to tilt his neck to connect their foreheads.

"Maria, I fucking love you. You know that, I tell you that every fucking day. I don't care if I'm risking my life to be with you, I need you. I can't live without you Maria. We were bound to be together since the day we were born, and when we finally got together, I never wanted to let you go. I won't ever let you go, Maria. Even if it kills me. You're savage, but you're my soulmate, and I will never leave you."

She looked up at him, shaking her head at him. "You stupid idiot." She wrapped her hands around his neck and pulled him in for a passionate kiss.

She knew her decision wasn't gonna end well, she knew all of the bad things that would happen to them if they were together, but he was her soulmate, and she was his.

So, she didn't give a damn about anything but feeling Liam's lips on hers.
