Would've, Could've, Should've.

If I found out sooner, I would've killed him myself.

I could've stopped myself from being so attached to him.

I should've avoided him.

When I heard the news, I almost dropped to my knees. Not because I was furious, but because I was near to fucking exploding. I parked my bike, rushing inside the precinct. When I got there, everyone was quiet.

Rushing inside, I don't reply to Jenna's morning greet.

"We sho— Oh, never mind."

Someone sat in front of Captain Miller, but I couldn't see his face. Captain Miller glanced at me, shocked from my arrival. I coughed awkwardly. Then, the man turned around.

"Hello, Detective." Vladis spoke, voice a little rough.

I raised my hand, but not waving it.

What was Alsace's half brother doing here? Why was he here, instead of like, Kine? Or Nathaniel, since he's the most friendliest one of them all. I wasn't being rude, but if I'm being honest, he shouldn't be seen here.

With the criminal record he has?

"Hello, Vladis." I replied.

Captain Miller stood up from his chair, coughing a little to get both our attention. I glanced at him.

Maybe something was wrong again?

"Vladis came to ask for help." he spoke. "They want our protection for awhile. Until Alsace restores back to health." Captain Miller looked down, the last words became mumbled.

"Protection for what? Don't they have enough?" I spoke, crossing my arms.

I wouldn't mind protecting Alsace for a few days. I needed to see him, be in the same room as him, even.

Fuck, I knew I was ruined.

"As for now... we're the only ones Alsace can trust." Captain Miller added.

"What makes him think we won't tell anyone about his whereabouts? Is he that stupid enough t—"

"Watch your mouth when you talk about my brother, Detective." Vladis spoke, his hand near his waist. I raised a brow, was he going to pull out a knife and slice my neck? He might be known for that, but I wasn't going to die today.

If I was, I'd die fighting.

"Since you and my brother spent two weeks together, I don't think you'd be a snitching fucking rat, yeah, Detective?" Vladis added.

Eyes wide, I blinked slowly. I glanced at Captain Miller, his own eyebrows now raised. Fuck.

He didn't know anything about that, but how did Vladis know? Captain Miller doesn't look at me straight, his fingers pinched the bridge of his nose while he sighed quietly. Vladis looked at him.
