"Are you alright?" the Mandalorian asked me as we exited the building, doors closing behind us.
I nodded along, hand still tight around the lightsaber on my belt. It loosened the further away from them we got, but my nerves were still on edge.
"They were Imperial," I stated.
"I know."
"What the fuck are Imperial doing here?" I questioned. "It's not like I expected none of them to be left after the Emperor was killed, but conducting bounties? I know that man. His team is supposed to be dead."
"The target must be important."
"I should inform the New Republic. This is a public safety problem."
Mando sighed. "We'd lose our bounty."
I battled with myself in that moment. The right thing to do was to get a transmission out to the New Republic and tell them that there was Imperial activity here, but how could I? The amount of beskar they had offered us was unbelievable. I didn't even know that all of it survived the fall. I had no use for it, not anymore at least, but Mando? I never completely agreed with how the Children of the Watch worked, but surely they had foundlings. That beskar was needed.
"I'll tell them after we collect the bounty," I told him. "There's no need for us to miss out on payment."
I would get half of the bounty in whatever form I wanted, but I knew that I wouldn't take it. I'd give it all to Mando. He needed it, and I didn't.
"I have to go," the Mandalorian told me, and I turned to face him as we stopped.
I knew where he was going. To his Creed. He had just gotten paid.
"Right, here," I replied, taking the credits I had gotten from the last bounty and holding it out to him. "You only got half the payment. It's only right you get what you worked for."
"I can't take your money Solo," he tried.
Shaking my head, I moved forward and placed the blue credits into his hand. I looked up into the eyes of his helmet. "Gar linibar bic. (You need it)."
The Mandalorian never thanked me, and if he did, it was only in the rarest of moments. A moment like this.
"Ver entye. (Thank you)."
I smiled. "I'll see you back at the ship."
With a nod, he turned away, moving past a group of people before vanishing from sight.
I took a deep breath, mind turning back to the Sith I had talked to. Maul was looking for me. Wasn't that wonderful? I was looking for him.
Turning my head, I focused my gaze on the Cantana. There's a bounty on your head, she had told me. If there was a bounty, surely there was a puck.
I began moving again, the opposite way to the ship, entering through the doors of the bar again. I didn't take notice of who was around me, heading straight for where Mando and I had sat with Greef. The guild member was still there, except there was a different hunter across from him.
"Move," I told the hunter.
His eyes turned to me, black as night. "Solo," he greeted.
"Move," I repeated.
He stood up, facing me head on. "Your brother killed mine," he explained and looking at him, I recognised the species.
"It's not my fault Greedo has shit reaction time," I told him.
