"I'm finding it rather difficult mother, that you'd accept the proposal the Queen brought to you." Yet again, Daenerys stood in her mothers chambers watching the maids scramble to gather their belongings.
"Marriage is a political transaction, my child. It could strengthen our alliances with the hightowers."
"It's foolish of you to believe that the Hightowers would let a marriage put a stop to their plans behind the scenes." Her mother looked at her, with an odd look in her eyes.
Rheanyra studied her daughter, sensing that she knew something more than she was letting on. Daemon however completely agreed with his daughter, not just because she was right in her statement but because he didn't like the idea of giving her away to Aemond Targaryen.
Though he didn't bring up the issues to his wife, instead he bid his daughter farewell, promising her that she shall soon visit dragonstone and reunite with her true family.
When Daenerys retrieved to her chambers, Queen Alicent was waiting for her, informing her that she king had requested to his granddaughter. The young girl obeyed the request, walking with the queen to the royal chambers. Though she wondered why the queen hadn't send the guards to come collect her and instead came herself.
"I suppose your mother had informed you of our proposal."
"Yes, your highness."
"I knew you were a perfect match for Aemond the second I lay eyes on you, though I must warn you, he is a rather cold boy." They continued their walk, the girl didn't know how to answer the queen.
"Though, I must admit, the way he looks at you." The Queen stopped mid sentence, arriving to the doors that lead into the royal chambers.
Daenerys was confused by the conversation she had just had, ever more confused why her grandfather requested her presence. When she entered before her sat a large table, it was a smaller version of kings landing. The girl felt a smile creep up on her, the king had a real talent.
Alicent placed her hand on the girls lower back, leading the girl further into the apartment, to the bed where the king lay breathing heavily.
"Aemma." He let out hoarsely, the name of his beloved late wife. As far as the stories go, the king never forgave himself for his queens death and never loved Alicent the same way.
"It is I, grandfather, Daenerys." She sat on the bed beside him, holding his hand in hers. Half of his face was covered with a gold mask, covering the sores and wounds that plagued his skin.
"I apologise my child, you just look a lot like-"
"Grandmother yes, my mother says the same thing. It is why my middle named is after her." King Viserys smiled weakly, a cough coming up loudly, as he waved towards a cup on his night stand. The girl held the back of her grandfathers head to lift him, as she poured the liquid into his mouth.
"Aemmond spoke of your dragon, sapphire. Greater than his own, please, tell me more." Daenerys spoke of her great adventures in the north, how her father, Daemon send her a dragon egg that held sapphire.
The girl spoke for hours on end, telling the king how the north spoke highly of her fighting skills for a woman, all the tricks she played on her masters as a child. She gazed at the old man who was listening to her intently, seemingly forgetting all about the pain he was feeling.
"You know, it was my wish to have you wed to my son, after he spoke so highly of you." Daenerys was surprised to hear such comment come from the king, it appeared as though her uncle was full of surprises.
"You two will make a strong match, riding the two largest dragons, of the purest blood line." She was so invested in making her grandsire feel better and spend valuable time with him, that she hadn't noticed the figure leaning in the shadows, listening to the girls stories for hours like his father.
Queen Alicent too remained in the room with them, though she did notice her son standing in the room, watching the girl with great admiration.
"Come now, my child. The king needs his rest." Alicent urged the girl to let the king be, but he held her wrist weakly, pulling her down closer.
"Daenerys, you are a pure blood Targaryen, people will you see as a threat. Beware of those around you." She leaned close to him, as he whispered into her ear so nobody else would hear. But Aemond notice, his curiosity getting the best of him, leaning forward to reveal himself from the shadow.
Alicent appeared beside the girl, leading her away. It was only then Danny noticed Aemond present in the room with them, he too followed suit with the two women.
"What did he say to you ?" It was a mere second before the door shut behind them, that the Queen was ready to interrogate the girl.
"The king must of been tired, he thought I was his late wife Aemma." The girl held her stance, her head high and shoulders back, the lie sliding of her tongue ever so easily.
Daenerys had been excused from the Queen presence, Aemmond following after his soon to be wife through the hallways.
"Is this the end of my freedom, my beloved ?" Daenerys smirked, glancing at the tall boy by her side. Though her remark earned her nothing but a hmm in return. Entering the library, her fingers glided along the hundred of books that lined the walls.
"Looking for anything, specific ?" Daenerys turned to the source of the voice, only to be met by Aemonds chest.
"I doubt I will find something to excite me within these walls." The girl tilted her head up, to get a clear look at the man above her. Though she was a few years older, the boy radiated authority and appeared much older for his age.
Her body shivered as her back hit against the shelves of books, trying to get away from the closeness of Aemond but he just stepped closer ever so slightly, but still closed the gap between their bodies. Though the moment was short lived, when the crashing of books and other items caught them by surprise.
Peering around the corner, the pair found Prince Aegon staggering drunkenly through the library, barely forming two steps by himself.
"What a surprise to see you in the library, Aegon. I thought you didn't know how to read." Daenerys stood on the opposite side of the table the boy was leaning against, the younger brother following behind her.
"That is no way to speak to your future king." He slurred his words, pointing a finger at the girl. She furrowed her eyebrows, confused at his remark. Daenerys glanced at Aemond who didn't dare to look at her, instead looking at his intoxicated brother.
"I understand now, the Hightower's are planning to over throw my mother and put you on the throne." The girl slammed her hands against the table, gaining the attention of both men.
"You don't deserve the throne, you are nothing but filth."
"Watch what you say, dear." Aemond grabbed her arm, forcefully turning her to look at him. He pulled her up to high, her feet barely touched the ground.
"What would mommy say if she knew her beloved son was out in the night, doing something unholy." The boy simply responded with a hmm, finding her fierceness and back talk rather entertaining.
"You know I hear them whispering, about the scenes they've witnessed."
"Good god you sound like my wife, talking absolute nonsense." Aegon stared at the pair before him, arguing back and forth as if they were married already.
