Juni and I sat in the middle of the chess hall. Slowly moving wooden pieces, thoughtfully mapping out our next move, but my mind was no where near focused on the game.

"Your mind is somewhere else." Juni says, taking the white rook in hand, moving it to the center of the board. I quickly take my bishop eliminating his protected pawn, making Juni suck his teeth. "Maybe not too far."

"Sam asked me about possession." I state blandly and Juni's eyes shoot up from the wooden board in shock. The calm serenity of the elders around us, still playing but only a few looked our way.

"I'm...sorry. Does he know he's not supposed to ask about that? Kendric is-" Juni stammers.

"Anal about that, yeah. But Sam is...he's my mate." I say and Juni gives me a soft smile, reaching up to move his pawn forward. I do the same. "It's just different."

"I know." He nods and we both look down at the chessboard. Only three of my pawns left, two of his, one bishop on each side, his rook standing tall in the middle of the board, he had only his king while I had both my king and queen. "Mate in four." He mutters.

"Actually in two." I say.

"How long have you played chess?" He asks.

"GrimFather and I needed something to do on the road, we always played chess. And he whipped my ass every time." I say and we both sit back in our seats, opting to not finish the game.

"Maybe there's a chess set here we can buy, so that we don't have to always come here to play chess." Juni offers with a shrug.

"I don't know. There's a charm coming to play chess here." I say looking around at all the calm elderly faces, deep in thought as they thought carefully about their next move on the board. "Maybe that's why they come here too."

"So...why did Sam ask about possession? Can you really do that?"

"I've only ever done it once." I say. "It was a long time ago when I first got the gist that I would be a digger for the rest of my life." I chuckle.

"So, what did Sam say?" Juni leans in.

"He asked whether or not I could use someone from my collection, to possess Durroe Junior and make him give us answers." I say. "I told him that there was only one soul strong enough to do that."

"Which one?" He asks eyes wide.

"Take a wild guess." I tilt my chin at him and there's a long moment of pause before I see Juni start to shake his head.

"No." He shakes his head firmly. "No you can't do that!" He whispers heatedly.

"You think I want to? The trial for that bitch is happening tomorrow, and we both know he won't tell those old bastards a thing. The more I think about it, interrogation and torture are probably what he's expecting. If we give him a trial, he'll have an audience to spread his propaganda."

"Maybe you're right, but do you even want to risk having that terrorist in a living body? Preferably one where he can run his mouth?" Juni's eyes drill into mine and I can't muster anything other than a shrug in response.

"The way I see it, shit talking is all he can do. I still own him, his soul is mine to control forever. He'll have no choice but to do what I say."

"Let me come with you." He says quickly and I let my head fall back against the back of the chair as he begins to explain. "It's better than Kendric finding out or Sam
being there and getting all emotional. I could care less about him and he'll have no effect on me. I've been practicing!"

"Juni he is a filthy rotten pile of shit swarming with flies and maggots. He's also been dead long enough to surpass mental barriers. I don't want you to hear anything coming out of his mouth. He'll say anything to hurt you, I don't want you to hear that."
