"MERRY CHRISTMAS, MOTHERFUCKERS!" i yell as i swing around the city. i laugh as i get a few cheers, swinging to the right. i land on the side of the building, running and jumping off the wall.i sit on wilshire tower, phone pressed against my ear. "what would i be doing right now..." i repeat the question josh asked me, "i don't know... probably spending it with olivia and her family." josh sighs, "you guys haven't talked since the party?" "no," i respond. "you can always come by mine, we've got one more space for you," he chuckles. "it's all good, i'm probably gonna go and soak up the city view now, have a good christmas, josh," i say. "merry christmas, y/n. take care." i take the phone off my ear, hanging up.
i swing my legs slightly, looking at the view. i look slightly up, hearing a door unlock behind me. who on earth would be up here on christmas day?
i hear footsteps crunch in the light snow that covered the rooftop, seeing someone brush the snow off the roof and sit around 25 feet away from me on the edge of the building. i subtly look over to my left, exhaling nervously as olivia looked into the city distance. i look down into my lap, fiddling with my fingers.
i feel something light and cold touch my head. i look up, smiling a little as snowflakes started to sprinkle down. i put out my hand, the snowflakes falling onto my suit. because of the material, the snowflakes stayed on my hand and didn't melt. i bring my hand closer to my face, examining the snowflake design.
after about 10 minutes of silence, i get the courage to speak up. "didn't think i'd see you here on christmas," i say, looking over at her. she looks over at me, "yeah... it is almost 11pm, not really doing anything," she says. i nod, looking away.
i decide to go home after about 30 minutes, standing up. "can we talk?" olivia finally speaks up. "every time you've said that it's lead to something bad," i say, brushing the snow off my suit. olivia stands up too, "i know." i can tell she's trying to play off the awkwardness of the situation, but i can hear the lump in her throat.
she walks over to me, "i just wanted to start off by saying merry christmas." "oh, merry christmas," i say back. "and i also wanna say that, um... i think i'm okay, like mentally," she continues. "you think?" i ask. "no... i know. i've taken a massive break from music, and i feel a lot more stable, i guess," she says, standing opposite me. "that's good to hear," i smile. "it's good to feel..." she smiles back, "so, now that that's out of the way, that means i've been thinking about you." i feel my face getting hot. "and where we're at right now... my head is telling me to walk away so i don't have the risk of getting hurt again, yet my heart tells me to suck it up because you're worth it," she confesses. "which one are you gonna listen to?" i ask. olivia takes another step forward, bringing her slightly cold hand to my jaw.
i close my eyes slowly as olivia leans in, nose briefly swiping against mine, before laying her lips on mine. i feel olivia's arms wrap loosely around my neck, pulling me closer to her, deepening the kiss as i keep my hands on her waist. olivia lets out a warm sigh, pulling away for a second before joining our lips back together again. my lips slightly part, allowing olivia's tongue to slip through.
we both pull away breathless, and i go for a shorter kiss, which olivia returns. "i guess 7 months of waiting for you was worth it," i smile. olivia chuckles, bending down and doing her shoelaces. i look around, exhaling once more and subtly trying to rub the redness out of my cheeks.
i gasp as a cold snowball hits my face. "y/n tingle didn't feel that one?" olivia grins childishly. i chuckle, shaking my head and bending down. i scoop up snow, cupping it to make it into a solid ball. "oh, i thought that was a one-time thing..." liv backs away. "you thought wrong!" i throw the snowball at her, and it hits her right in the chest. she freezes, letting out a squeal. she picks up another bunch of snow, and so do i. we both look up at the same time, and liv throws hers first. i jump and dodge it, throwing my snowball mid air. olivia screams, turning her body quickly away from me. "bullseye!" i yell as it hits her in the head. "this is incredibly unfair!" she laughs, facing me in defeat. i laugh, jogging over to her, "shouldn't have started it!" i brush off the snow in her hair with a laugh. "should we head down now?" olivia asks. "yeah, let's go."
i hold onto olivia with my left arm, shooting a web to the edge of the building. i step off the building, lowering us by letting the web slowly out.
i reach the ground first, and olivia gets off me. "are you driving home?" i ask. "yeah, my car's right there," liv points behind me. i smile, and we walk to her car. i open olivia's door, and she gets in. she rolls down the window, and i close the door. "merry christmas, olivia," i smile as i lean on the window frame. "merry christmas, safe swings," she chuckles softly. "safe drives," i respond. i stand up straight as olivia gives another giggle, starting to drive away.
as olivia turns a corner, i smile to myself, silently doing an air fist pump before connecting a web to a building.
olivia's pov
i unlock the apartment building, dropping my keys onto the counter top. i run into iris' bedroom. "i love christmas!" i exclaim, falling onto her bed. "what'd you do..." iris asks, concerned. "i kissed y/n is what i did!" i close my eyes, smiling as iris gasps. "for real?! when?!" "just then! on wilshire, in the snow!" iris and i squeal at the same time. "then what?!" "and then we had a small snowball fight, then we went down to my car and she opened the door for me, and then i drove home," i retell. "text her!" iris tell me. "no! i don't know..." i say, taking out my phone. "do it! or i'll do it for you," iris says. "fine... i'll do it." i go to y/n's messages, starting to type. i delete it, "what do i even say?" i look at iris. "i'm not gonna tell you what to say!" "but you just- never mind..." i start to type again, "hey y/n... smiley face... wanna hang out tomorrow?" i read out what i was typing. "that's good, now send it." i take a deep breath, sending it.i check once again to see if y/n responded, after 15 minutes after i sent the message. "checking your phone every minute isn't gonna get her to magically text back, olivia." my phone vibrates. i squeal, holding my phone up to show iris, "you were saying?" "well, read it!" i turn my phone back to me, tapping on the message. "oh," i say after reading it. "what?" iris asks. "she said... 'hey olivia, i'm really sorry but i've got a lot on tomorrow'," i read, looking back up at her, "wait, she's typing again." i wait for her to send it, "she said 'how about the day after? i found this crepe place you'll love, smiley face'." iris and i smile at the same time. "she was thinking of me!" i lean back onto the bed, holding my phone to my chest. "aren't you like a little 10 year old with her first crush?" iris teases. "shut up," i smile, going onto twitter and seeing a tweet from y/n.
i laugh, looking up at iris, "she just tweeted 'just had the best christmas ever, hope your guys' was just as good as mine'!" "you guys are so cute," iris laughs.
