Chapter 32

Ruby pov

Waking up to the blinding light of the sun is not my version of a perfect awakening. I can feel that I'm in the middle of the bed and there are two bodies lying next to me. Opening my eyes I look to my left and see Cana sleeping blissfully, I smile in adoration at her. Turning my head to the right I'm greeted by the dazzling emeralds of my mate staring back at me.

"Morning handsome" I grin.

"Morning" he smiles back.

I sit up careful not to awaken Cana and stretch, hearing a few of my joints pop, I sigh in satisfaction and get up.

"Ruby, what happened last night?" Rowan asks inquisitively.

"I contacted my mother. Sorry if I scared you, I'm fine now" I reply grinning from ear to ear.

Just thinking about it, knowing I will see her soon brings me such joy, I start skipping to the closet, I scour my clothes for something presentable and impressive.

"Your mother?! How, you never made a link before she disappeared?" Rowan asks loudly and Cana stirs slightly.

"Quiet" I shush him, watching Cana turn over, she stays asleep "I know, I forced the link and found her, I remembered my mother's wolfs name and got in touch, she's on her way home."

Rowan sits stunned for a moment before coming over to me and turning me to him. I quirk an eyebrow at him and he smiles leaning in, he brushes his lips against mine and I place a quick kiss to his lips before pulling away.

"Have a shower and get dressed. I'll lay some clothes out for you. Now go" I order half-heartedly.

"Yes Alpha," he replies, bowing dramatically.

I roll my eyes as I watch him go and once he shuts himself in the bathroom, I turn back to looking through my clothes. Settling on some plain black jeans, a plain red top and my leather jacket. Turning to look at Cana on the bed, I decide to pick her out an outfit as well considering she is roughly my size now. I pick out blue jeans, my stay wild white shirt and a black and red checked jacket. I walk over to Cana and just sit next to her looking at her for a moment.

"You know that's real creepy, right?" Cana states, her voice still carrying a sleepy tone to it.

Her eyes open and flick up to mine, I chuckle and ruffle her hair, making her smack my hand away.

"Hey, no fair, I've only just woken up" she's mutters grumpily, shoving her face into my pillow.

I can't stop chuckling at her grumpy attitude and pull the pillow out from under her, a small, half-hearted growl sounds out but she pulls herself in to a sitting position although she's pouting sulkily.

"Cana, I need you to go and shower and put these on." I ask turning a little more serious.

"Why?" she responds, always so curious.

"Well, you know how I told you that my mum and dad, your Nan and grandad, were killed?" I ask and she nods listening intently "Well, turns out your Nan is still alive and I contacted her, she's coming home."

Cana's eyes widen into saucers and she freezes for a moment, obviously absorbing that information before rather abruptly grabbing the clothes and dashing out the room. I stare at the door, perplexed by her behaviour, before I burst out laughing at her rushing off to get sorted. I lay my own clothes on the bed and then turn back to the closet and scour through the clothing his mum had brought over for him. I choose him some plain black jeans and a white button up, leaving the rest for him to choose.

A door down the hallway slams shut causing me to jump frightfully, I listen carefully and hear Cana in the bathroom, turning on her shower. I roll my eyes even though it's pointless, no one can see me. At the same moment I decide I should notify my pack.
