The Man That Knows Pain

I've seen pain,

I've heard it too.

And every day I feel pain in one form or another,

Sometimes two.

And like death, pain is something I've known my whole life.

Whether it was physical, or mental,

Pain is something that has lived forever in my mind.

Because of this, I see pain,

And hear about it all the time,

And like death, pain is something I can never escape,

No matter how hard I try.

Now you may say that no one can escape pain,

But the pain you're talking about isn't mine.

Mine is unique, it evolves,

Always trying to find the best ways to torture me,

Patiently waiting for the perfect time to strike.

And when it does, I'm impaled by a pike,

Unable to move, as pain grooves and grinds its way across my mind,

And at other times,

My skin.

I would try to fight it but,

There's no point when I know I won't win.

One day this pain will finally kill me.

I don't know how I will die,

But there will come a time.

And when I die,

If my name is never lost in time,

I will be remembered not only by my name,

But as the man who saw death,

And the man who knows pain.
