Kassie's POV

The Astronomy Tower was quiet, and no Deatheaters were near me. I held my wand out, peering down at the battle below, watching spells burst out at people with their bright colours lingering the air. The courtyard looked awful; bodies littered the ground, with trails of blood beside them. It was nothing compared to the Great Hall, which was half demolished with terrified students inside. I was prepared to attack if anyone crept up on me. I stared at the golden Hungarian Horntail, which defied gravity and twisted through the air, flapping its glitter-tinted wings. Yes, it was deadly, but it looked beautiful.

"Kassie!" someone said, grabbing my shoulder. I snapped my head around and put my fist out, making the person crumple to the ground. Ellie laid on the ground, drenched in tears.

"Oh! I'm sorry," I said, pulling her up to her feet. She seemed unstable and depressed, topped off with a gloomy look.

"What's wrong?" I said, putting my arm around her.

"I-I-I killed-" she began, quivering.

"What?"

"I killed Dayved," she said, tearing up even more. I felt sick, and sank to the ground with tears filling my eyes.

"Ho-how?" I said, in a shaky voice.

"I was trying to te-tell him abo-about what I did t-to Blak-Blake," Ellie said.

Dayved wasn't supposed to be here, he was not a year five or higher. He was my date to the Yule Ball, my friend, and my study buddy. Dayved meant so much to me, and it was all taken away.

I felt a surge of anger within me, burning hot in my veins.

"What did you do to Blake?" I said sternly, with tears flowing down my cheeks.

"He pushed me down, so I pus-pushed him back, and he fe-fell back in front of the tra-train," she said, bawling.

"Ellie... why?"

"I didn't mean to," she said. I grabbed her and pulled her into a hug, stroking her hair. We cried for what seemed like forever, but were interrupted by movement below us. A woman with black hair (green tints travelling down the locks) and a long dark green dress, layered in a cloak came striding up the stairs to us. It was Magatha, followed by someone else. The other woman had large glasses, and brown frizzy hair; she was wearing a blue cloak with a tunic underneath. Professor Parkinson began, "it's ok, we've killed before, and not from the battle." It was utter shock what Professor Parkinson said to us, and I was horrified.

"It's not awful to kill, if you're fighting for what's right," Magatha said, pulling us to our feet.

"Who-who are you?" Ellie said, shaken up.

"We're Deatheaters, fighting for the Dark Lord Dantriomir Karkaroff, the right side," Professor Parkinson said. The shock was too much for me to handle; Dayved was dead, so was Blake, and my two favourite Professors are Deatheaters.

"You're wrong!" I said, pushing them back.

"Ellie, come join us," Magatha said, holding out her skinny hand.

"But-but I-" Ellie said, looking over to me. I was pale, and disturbed. Ellie grasped onto Magatha's hand, and went beside them. My jaw dropped, and I didn't know what was right or wrong.

"Kas," Ellie said, "come." My hand shot out without me thinking; I'd follow my best friend till the end.

"Glad you chose the right side," Magatha said, "let's go find Dantriomir and tell him of your decision."
