Ellie's POV
"Ellie! It's time to come down and eat!" my mother said, yelling up from the bottom of the stairs. I groaned and rolled over in my bed, trying to block the sunlight out.
"Wake up," she said, flicking her wand across my room sending socks and clothes into my trunk, "come downstairs once you're dressed." I pulled on a soft jumper, than tugged some pants on. I didn't really care about my hair so I just left it the way it was. I stormed down the staircase of the manor, then sat in the dining hall. The room was invaded with the smell of bacon and eggs, which sat in front of me when I plopped down. I shovelled the food into my mouth, while thinking about how I'll see Kassie and Blake. I haven't seen them all summer, nor Scott, Wes, and Gali. Gali still wasn't over what had happened to Natalina, all she heard that it was a poisoning, and she still didn't believe all of that was true. The drive to Kingscross was tiring and all I wanted was to see Kassie and my friends. I heaved my trunk into the station, then bustled past the large crowd of people elbowing through. I sprinted through the platform wall to see students with carts and owls, rats, and toads boarding the train. They tugged their trunks up onto the train door, then found compartment to sit in.
I swung my trunk onto the compartment shelf, then sat down holding my cat Gunther. He purred and trotted around the compartment till Ellie strode in front of the compartment door, slipping away from Blake's hand. She waved a goodbye and then slid the door open to get inside.
"Looks like things are getting serious?" I said, grinning at her.
"Well, I guess so," Ellie said.
The door slid open again, and Scott walked in, with a large grin smacked on his handsome face.
"What are you so happy about?" I said.
"Nothing..." he said.
When Dayved walked in the compartment everything went silent. Five minutes later the train barrelled forwards sending Gunther flying to the back of the compartment.
"So...uh- how was your guys summers?" Dayved said, nervously.
"Eh- it was good," Ellie said, "could've been better if I was aloud to perform magic."
"Well, I went to the Quidditch World Cup," Scott said.
"Ugh, Quidditch," I said, rolling my eyes out the window.
"No, really Kas. I think you should try out for the team this year, you'd be e great Seeker." Ellie and Dayved all nodded in agreement, but I shook her head. Dayved's Pygmy puff snorted and twisting to its side, trying to get back to sleep.
"That things so lazy!" Scott said, pointing at the puff.
"He is not!"
"Is too," Ellie and I said in agreement.
"He's always sleepy," I said.Alan's POV
"Come on, Bert! Hurry up," I said, pushing Bert through the compartment door. Bert's hair was a dark brown; mangled and twisted from the run to catch the train.
"I can't believe you almost missed the damn train!" I said.
"I didn't know we had to be here at this time!" Bert said, ignoring Alan.
"It's always at this time!"
We both swivelled our heads to the compartment door to see a tall girl with dark brown hair opening the door.
"Hey, uh- can you guys keep it down in here?" she said.
"Yeah, sorry," Bert said.
"Thanks, I'm Kassie," she said.
"Oh, I'm Alan and this is-"
"Bert, pleased to meet you," Bert interrupted rudely. Kassie slid out of the compartment and we continued to talk about our summers.Scott's POV
We were almost at Hogwarts; I could see the glowing castle in the distance, it's reflection flooding the lake.
"Here, take a look at this," I said, handing it over to Ellie. She read the headline of the newspaper and gasped,
"He's back?"
"According to Daily Prophet, yes."
"Why are you reading this rubbish?" Ellie said.
"It's in the Quibbler too," Dayved said.
The train began to slow down and eventually come to a halt in Hogsmeade Station. The four bustled their way out of the train and onto the stone path that led to the horseless carriages.
"Look, it's Gali," I said, pointing to the unnaturally tall girl.
"She can see thestrals!" Dayved said loudly.
"Keep your voice down! And no she can't!" Ellie scolded him.
"What do you mean?" Dayved said.
"Well, you're talking really loudl-"
"No, I meant about the Thestrals," he said.
"Oh? Well, she never saw Natalina-"
"Hey guys," Gali said, pulling her trunk to a carriage.
"Hey Gali, mind if we ride with you?" Kassie said.
"No, you can ride in this one with me."
Once their trunks and pets were all safely in the carriage, it moved forward down the muddy path.
"I can't believe it's my last year," Gali said.
"Oh, wow. Make it a great one!" Dayved said.
It was mine, Ellie, and Kassie's sixth year, and Dayved's fourth.
When we arrived at the Great Hall, the same old drill happened. Welcome back, Sorting, then the delicious feast that made some students stay in bed for days. The students went to their Common Rooms, then hit the sack. It was a long day today, and I knew this would be a long year.
