Nini's pov.
I drove to school with my heart thumping. I'm so overwhelmed. I told my moms about the whole Jake thing because well I trust them and it couldn't stay on my chest forever. They told me that they told the school and all they said that 'they'll see to it', whatever the hell that means. I'm still really quite scared about what's happening today. I'm was so fucking naïve for falling into Jake's trap of lies. And it's no one's fault but my own. Everyone warned me, heck I even warned myself. So why did I do it? But I was also worried about what's going on with Ricky. I knew he took me home and I guess I felt butterflies of some sort? Some weird way. I was thinking about it when he drive me back home. I don't even know why I held his hand, or the fact that he didn't let go. But I think the only reason that I did that was because well I was partly traumatized and he probably did it because he was being a normal human being. I mean you find someone upset and you comfort them, it's the bare minimum. I got out of my car in the East High parking lot and walked in through the doors to see Gina rushing towards me. Out of all my friends she's probably the closest but I care for them all dearly. She came up to me and hugged me tightly. "What happened with you yesterday? Actually I know why. Ricky told me, or at least a brief summary"
"Wait, what did he say?"
"Something about you and Jake in the street and he was like being a jerk and then he dropped you home or something like that" she explained.
Seriously? I was planning in telling them at lunch. I wanted to figure out what was going on with myself before I got bombarded with questions. Thanks Ricky, thanks a freaking lot. "So yeah what happened?"
"Okay I wanted to tell y'all later but I'll tell you now. Basically Jake took me aside yeah?"
"Yep, I saw that? Where'd he take you"
"He took me to somewhere near the back of the school, outside."
"Why did he-"
"Gianna Porter, shut the hell up" I giggled. "This is the heavy stuff, ready?" She nodded and I continued. "So basically he kind of like held me against the wall and kind of abused me...maybe...possibly"
"I'm sorry WHAT THE FUCK?!"
"shhhh"
"Sorry! He- what? Why? What happened next?"
"Basically he like found my underwear and-" I stopped because I started crying again. Gina took my hands gently. "I screamed because I had nothing left to do. I didn't think anyone would hear me and if I'm being honest I thought that I would just drop dead. But then Ricky came from the middle of nowhere and punched Jake in the face"
"Ha! Karma" she said passionately. I laughed at their response.
"Yeah, anyway I like fell down or something and the rest was blurry and he took me in his car and we went to my place. And I swear if you tell anyone ANYTHING I will actually skin you alive and turn your skin into a lampshade."
"What the fuck? No, I swear on my life I won't"
"Good so we kinda like held hands throughout the car ride and then I fell like asleep. But you know the sleep where you're still conscious just like hella zoned out?" She nodded, grinning. "Well yeah when we arrived home I was too weak to wake up and whatever so he picked me up and put me to bed and when he was leaving I may or may not have asked him to stay..."
"Nina!"
"Not like that! God no! Never in a million years, especially with Richard and especially with what happened. I just needed someone with me and my moms were both asleep, so I asked him. Simple."
"Did anything happen when you were together?"
"Well he played with my hair and I guess he remembered that that's the easiest way to put me to sleep and then he put his arms around me and my head was on his chest and sometimes I had nightmares and he would just wipe my tears away and whisper that I'm okay and it kind of made me get butterflies and" I gasped when I realized what I said and that I just gushed about Ricky in front of Gina and the fact that she was just smiling right at me. "Shit. Gina I think..."
"You like Richard"
I sighed and banged my head against my locker, knowing she was right. "Girl, you're such a goner" she teases.
"I knoowww" I complained.
The day continued with me and Gina being a little more secretive then we usually were and we noticed that EJ and Ricky were as well.
Ricky's pov
In the morning I called EJ on my way to school. After 2 rings he picked up the phone. "Hey Ricky"
"Hey"
"You sound distressed, what's up?"
"Don't tell anyone about what I'm gonna tell you"
"Okay?"
"I swear"
"Yeah, got it. What happened?"
"Basically Jake took Nini away and kind of... well...abused her-"
"WHAT?!"
"I know, that was my reaction"
"Continue" he said aggressively. Nini was like his little sister. To say he was furious was an understatement.
"Basically I went up to him and punched him in the face"
"Hahaha. Wait actually?" He asked, smiling through the phone.
"Yeah I chuckled. "So I went up to her and she looked crushed and it absolutely broke my heart so I took her to my car and then I started to drive to her house to drop her house but then she took my hand and ugh when I tell you it was the cutest thing ever. Then she fell asleep still holding my hand and when we arrived I carried her to her room and put her in bed and when I was about to leave but she grabbed my wrist and said "stay" which made my heart soar, and then she put her head in my lap and I played with her hair and then she put her head on my chest and I put my arms around her and one of these days I swear she's gonna break me and then we fell asleep and I woke up the next morning before school started and kissed her forehead while she was asleep and-"
"Oh my god, bro. That really all happened"
"Yeah"
"You're in fucking love with Nini."
No, no I'm not. She just needed someone to comfort her."
"So that while 'knight in shining armer' act meant nothing?"
"I would've helped anyone?"
"Yeah but as I recall you called her cute and made your heart soar, oh yeah not to forget but you kissed her, whether she felt it or not is irrelevant, dude you like her"
"Ugh. You're right"
"I know, you're so whipped" he laughed.
"Shut up," I said smiling with him.
When I arrived to school I summarized what happened to my other friends leaving out all the important details. Me and EJ walked around together and I noticed Nini and Gina getting close but I brushed it off. Then end of the day came slowly, only one class left. Drama.
