Nini's pov

I arrived at Slices with my head whizzing. This Jake guy really made me think about Ricky. Maybe it was all pretend. What we had was never really there. What if I just wasted my whole life caring about someone who didn't care about me back? "Hey Nini! You're late!" Kourtney said with a giggle

"Sorry but I'm here now" I said while pretending to roll my eyes.

I continued normally. Washing my hands, tying me hair up into a ponytail and putting my apron on and then collecting orders form tables when I saw EJ and Ricky walk in.

I immediately ran away from the door bumping into Gina and Big Red.

"Woah you good Nini?" Asked Red

"What is Ricky doing here!?"

"Wait Ricky's here?" Said Gina

Soon we saw Big Reds face go as red as pizza sauce.

"Biggie. Spill"

"Umm...well...you see... I may or may not have given Ricky a job at Slices"

"You did what?!"

"Sorry, Nini but he needed a job and well he is my friend so I gave him one"

"I get it Biggie, I do and I know it's not fair for you guys to stop being friends because of me but I don't know if this is going to work"

"It will, Nini, I promise."

"Fine"

I walked back and was thankful to see that Ricky was in the back getting changed into his uniform and I had a chance to rant to Carlos and Seb

"I need powers from my gay couple"

"Spill the tea sis"

"What's wrong, Nini?"

"Richard f-ing Bowen is here like what the hell?" I said sarcastically laughing

"Well Nini, how do you want us to answer that?"

"I dunno at this point. I mean like he's ALWAYS there. Like I just can't get rid of him and when I try to I end up making the whole school look at us like Ugh. He's just so annoying"

"Y'all sound like those people on my fanfics that we wrote when we were twelve"

"Oh my gosh! No! Carlos! Next group sleepover we have to go back and read those!"

"Kinda forgot the passcode. And I asked everyone else and they also forgot"

"I have it written down in my diary. Well I mean the one I had 4 years ago, but still."

"You freaking legend Nini!"

"Tonight at my house?"

"DEFINETLY! I have to go collect some orders but you spread the word around okay?"

"Got it. See ya Nini

"Bye Carlos"

Ricky's pov 

I entered Slices and looked around for Nini and then I saw darting off to speak to Big Red and Gina. I wonder what's going- never mind. Probably none of my business. I walked to the back with EJ. They have their own little changing room thingies. They aren't very big. But there's one room for the girls and one for the boys. We went in and found Jett getting ready to head out to work. He tightened his apron and smiled at use before heading out.

We stared getting changed in a comfortably awkward silence. Until he spoke up saying.

"Have you ever met that Jake guy before?"

"I've seen him around in the hallways and I know that he plays football and that he's in History with me but I've never talked to him before. Why'd you ask?"

"Just making sure, because I've never met him but I know he's a player and he said that he was talking to Nini. So I mean...actually forget it."

"What are you saying?"

"I guess I'm just making sure that Jake doesn't play with Nini's heart. I mean she's like a little sister to me."

"Yeah I guess. He wouldn't do that though, right? I mean why would he be into her now when he had all these years to make a move?"

"I dunno. Anyways we gotta go."

I nodded back o him and we headed out the changing room. We both washed our hands and I stayed back to make some pizzas while EJ went out to serve people.

I was garnishing one when Nini came up to me. I don't think she noticed it was me because she was finishing writing something  down

"Can we get a medium sized gluten free pizza with peppers and mushrooms on it please? And a coke." She said still looking down.

"Got it" 

When she heard my voice her head Stanley jerked up.

"Why are you working here, Ricky?"

"Thanks for welcoming me to the place. Feels real homey already" I commented with plenty of sass and fake jazz hands. She just rolled her eyes.

"I'm serious Richard I-."

"Oh no. You used my full name. Now I'm in trouble"

"Can you like actually grow up?!"

"Can you actually stop being so uptight?!"

"You know what. We are not doing this now. Just make the food and don't talk to me"

"I mean you're the one who initiated the conversation so..."

She shot me a death glare and I silenced myself. I spread the dough and watched her walk around greeting people with a smile. I decided to just forget about everything now. We're clearly in different stages I'm our life and I think whatever we had is over. I just concentrated on work and not my gorgeous ex-best friend.

Thanks y'all. I'll try and update more often, but hangs will probably change. I'm updating at least twice a week, maybe more but u don't know what day or what time. School had just been a lot. Thx for the views and votes. But seriously like all these people are reading this and ZERO of you are commenting like c'mon you guys!!!
