20 - Disintegrated Depths

"Good. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to work on my project at the park." Ethan says then moves to gather his backpack and swings the strap over his shoulder.

His hand turns the doorknob and he walks out, closing the door behind him.

"I swear I've seen those icy orbs before." Ridley mutters.

"Hey! My name's Traci! This is Eleanor, and Elaine!" a blonde teenaged girl shouts.

Standing beside her is a pale, raven haired girl with deep navy blue eyes, and a dark-skinned teen girl with curly raven locks and hazel eyes.

"Ridley! There you are!" Ridley turns around and spots a raven haired teenaged boy with dark brown eyes, walking up to him.

The brunette at his side, along with a red haired girl, fixates her icy gaze at him.

"I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, Maria, and Isabelle."

"You better not break either girls' heart. Or, so help me, I'll come after you with my big brother."

"I'm not scared of him! He should be scared of me, after all I will hold that title."

Ridley scoffs. "Just get back to Daniel and Scott. Leave me alone, David."

David takes a step forward and leans his mouth to Ridley's left ear. "It doesn't work that way. Remember this; Ridley Lycan, don't test a Cardarelli. I will kill you if you fail to heed."

"Ass." Ridley mutters. "Go ahead and try!"

"...pted. Please don't tell him. Aaron and I promised ourselves we'd tell him when he's old enough to understand." Aphmau whispers. "Alina knows, only because she asked about it."

"I don't know whether to be angry and mad at you two or disappointed." Rachel says. "My son and daughter-in-law kept this to themselves."

"We had to! Who knows what could happen if word got out! If he knew..." Aph trails off, shivering slightly at the thought of Ethan finding out.

Melissa leans over to place a hand on her sister's shoulder. "He'd retaliate most likely."

"Who would?" Ridley butts in.

"Nice of you to come back to reality, Uncle." Melissa comments, a bit sarcastic.

"It turns out, Ethan's adopted. Aaron and Aphmau adopted him when he was two week old." Rachel states.

"So, if he knew, he'd retaliate? Just out of curiosity, who are his biological parents if he's adopted?" Ridley asks aloud.

The petite werewolf's caramel gaze suddenly finds the ground interesting. She mumbles the answer incoherently but Rachel and Ridley both overhear it.

"APHMAU LYCAN!" Rachel bellows. "You associated yourself with that family? And worst thing is, you dragged my son into it! Do you have any idea what you've done!"

"I do!" Aph shouts back. "Ethan may be a born member of that family, but he is still as much our child as Alina is! Aaron and I are his parents and we will always care and love him as if he was our own son."

Rachel sighs. "That family, Aphmau, is connected to the Demon Wolf. If I were you, I'd keep a watch on Ethan's abilities."

"Aaron and I have already planned that. Since we now know who the Demon Wolf is."

"Ethan's a born Cardarelli? You're kidding, right?" Ridley scoffs. "There's no way that ass of a dickhead could possibly father a child as foul-mouthed as that kid!"
