13 - Unluckist Day

UNKNOWN YEARS LATER

A pair of icy blue eyes crack open as he sits up in his makeshift bed. He turns his head to the right, spotting his sister's makeshift bed all made and neat. She's not here so where is she? The boy jumps out of his bed, neatly making it afterwards. His dominant left hand pats his bedspread when he hears a twig snap.

"Who's there?" he asks, moving his hand away from his bed and towards the wall where his dual swords sit in their sheath.

Chocolate colored orbs stare at him for a moment then roll themselves. "It's just me, no need to get excited." the voice replies. "Mom and Dad are back."

The two siblings race out of their bedroom, down the hallway and into the kitchen/dining room area. The apartment's front door bangs open and in walks Aaron and Aphmau, with a gravely injured Zane leaning against Nana. An onyx haired boy with Zane's blue eyes walks behind and an onyx haired girl with amber eyes strolls in after.

"Uncle Zane!" the girl with chocolate orbs shouts. "Mom, Dad, is he okay?"

"We don't know, Alina." her mother replies then turns to Nana. "Set him down on that chair besides Ethan."

Ethan steps to the side. "What happened even? When you left with Mom and dad, you were fine." he scrunches his nose a bit.

"He came out of nowhere." Zane whispers. "I didn't see him."

"Who?" Aaron asks.

Aphmau quickly dashes into the bathroom off of the kitchen, grabbing all the bandages and other various ointments she needs to help Zane, then runs back into the dinning room. Her arms drop everything on their kitchen table.

"Garroth, right? I thought something was weird with him."

The vampire glances at her then nods. "His eyes were green."

"Green eyes?" all the children say in unison.

"Forever potions?" Aaron adds. "How is that possible? I turned Ein human, remember?"

"And then you turned Aph. Yes, we know." Nana rolls her eyes for a second.

"Dad, are you sure you're okay?"

Zane hisses a moment when Nana tightens the bandage around his arm. "Yeah, Nico. I'll be okay." he mumbles.

Nico licks his lips. "Good. The smell of blood is getting all over. My nose hates it."

"Agreed." Ethan replies. "My nose also hates it."

"Well then boys, think you two can head out and track down some more items for a first aid kit?" Aphmau asks the two boys.

"Alina and I can help around here in the meantime." the amber eyed onyx haired girl beams. "Is that okay, mom?"

Nana tightens another bandage. "Sure honey." she smiles at her daughter.

"Yeah, Aunt Aph!" Nico is the first to reply, followed by a small nod of agreement from Ethan.

"Be careful, you two." Aaron warns. "The Guardian Force is on the hunt for Ultimas and our family, Ethan."

Ethan engulfs him in a hug. "I know, Dad. I'll be okay. I have Nico with me."

"Okay, but keep your hood over your head at all times, you hear me?"

Alina snorts. "Ethan can handle himself, Dad! He's a dual swordsman." she comments.

Their mother walks away then reappears with a list. She hands the list to Ethan before pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead.
