Cat Noir set her down on the nearest building rooftop, carefully letting so and making sure she didn't fall.
"Are you okay?" he worried, checking her all over for any injuries. "You're not hurt? How's your head feeling?"
"I—I think I'm okay..." she gave him what she hoped was a confident smile but it didn't feel like it. "Thank you."
"It's my job," he laughed, then stared into her eyes with sudden seriousness. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Please, just stop this. You can't act this way to me when you love someone else. It's like you want to toy with my heart!
"I'm fine," she snapped, swatting his worried hand away from her face. "You've got to get back to fighting. I'm sure Ladybug needs you, just as much as you need her." She muttered out the last part but he still heard it and frowned.
"Naya..."
"Just—"
"Cat Noir!" Ladybug called as she landed on the building next to them. "We—" She suddenly became aware of the strange situation they were in, and looked back and forth between them, then sighed. "We can deal with this later. I need you," she said to Kitty. He smiled and Naya felt anger bubble up in her chest. But she pushed it down and nodded.
Cat Noir watched her carefully, still frowning. But he seemed to push down the emotions he was feeling as well and turned, extending his stick to leap away.
Ladybug started to follow him, but Naya surprised herself by saying, "Wait!"
Ladybug stopped, turning back with a confused expression. "What?"
"I-I just wanted to know—"
"GRAAAAAAAWR!!!"
"Ah!" Cat Noir yelped, barely dodging the giant fist swung at him. "M'lady? Little help?"
"Sorry. We can discuss this later," Ladybug said, then jumped away, leaving Naya alone on the rooftop.
"Right." She carefully walked to the edge, then climbed down the emergency layer and ran to hide under the nearest canopy, where the giant couldn't see her. And there she waited until she heard a woosh and a line of glowing Ladybugs flew past her.
She climbed out from her hiding spot and ran to the open space where she'd been drawing the Eiffel Tower, seeing Ladybug and Cat Noir fist bump, calling, "pound it!" as they usually did. Naya hoped they wouldn't be too suspicious of Wisp for not being there, but she couldn't have helped it this time.
"Kitty!" Naya called, deciding to just ignore Ladybug. Cat Noir grinned, opening his arms as she fell into them, hugging him tightly.
"I'm glad you're okay, Ocean Blue," he whispered, squeezing her tightly before letting go and hiding her out at arms length to examine her for any injuries again. When he didn't find any he pulled her in for another hug. "I was so scared for you."
"My Ladybugs always fix everything," his partner reminded him. "Also, you never told me you had a girlfriend! What was all that flirting with me for then!?"
"Gah!" Cat Noir jumped away from Naya like she had the plague. "G-Girlfriend!? No! No way, we're just friends! Don't worry, M'lady, you are the only one for me."
"Oh." Ladybug looked between the two of them, confused. "Okay, well in that case it shouldn't be a problem. Because you do know superheroes can't have romantic relationships, right? It's too dangerous in case—"
"In case HawkMoth gets ahold of one of us, I know, I know," Cat Noir sighed. "But don't worry. We're not. Right?" He looked to Naya, who was currently trying not to break down. She hadn't even thought of that! So did that mean there was no way they could ever be together? Was a life of painful friendship her destiny? Not that it seemed to matter anyways, as Cat Noir clearly had no interest in her.
"Right. We're ju-just friends." She smiled shakily, then coughed loudly, wiping at her eyes. "Sorry! Just breathed in some dust!"
"You okay?" Cat Noir asked, completely oblivious in a way that used to be cute to her but now was only painful.
"I'm fine." She straightened, smiling again. "Really."
