"Hand over your Miraculous," Hawkmoth extended a gloved hand and Cat Noir looked up from the floor, his tears threatening to overflow. He stood shakily, reaching to pull his ring from his finger. His green eyes were blank and empty.

"Mhhh! Hmm!!" Wisp tried to shake her head, eyes wide. He couldn't give it up. Not for her. She didn't deserve that!

"Wisp...I can't lose you." He started to pull it off his finger but Wisp yelled louder, trying to form words around the hand in front of her face.

"Mhh dmm ight! Hmmmth! Lmm tough mmm!"

Hawkmoth frowned, then nodded to Natalie, who whispered something behind her fan, making the Sentimonster drop its hand back to its side. Wisp gasped for breath, finally able to breathe freely.

"What did you say?"

"I said listen to me. I have a trade."

"What?" he asked suspiciously.

"I want...I want to Glow Off!"

"Wha—" He grunted in surprise as her outfit disappeared and her hair fell down in brown waves. Just as Willow had said, the Sentimonster's grip didn't tighten, since it hadn't been ordered to and so she fell right through its hand onto the ground.

"Naya?" Ladybug whispered. "No way, why is this—"

Immediately Naya leapt to her feet and cried, "Glow On!"

Without waiting a second Willow's power flew through her and she was in her superhero outfit again, rushing at Natalie with a fist raised.

"Wait!" Cat Noir yelled just as she was swinging it towards her chest but instead of freezing she anticipated the supervillain jumping up and leapt into the air before her, kicking down with her powerful deer-like legs and sending her crashing into the ground.

"Fabricate!" A glowing box fell around Natalie, sticking itself to the ground and sealing off the supervillain with no exits.

"Natalie!" Hawkmoth cried, trying to rush to her but being cornered by the two heros.

"Now it's truly over, Hawkmoth," Ladybug said confidently, swinging her yo-yo in a circle just as before. Something about that similarity made Wisp worry.

This isn't enough. We can't beat him by playing fair and square. We need to beat him at his own game.

She left her friends to stalk over to where Natalie was stumbling to her feet in the cage. It opened around her and she grabbed the woman by the shoulder, roughly putting one arm around her neck. She broke off a sharp piece of her horn, the suit complying with her wishes, and held it to Natalie's throat.

"Naya?" Cat Noir stared at her with a betrayed look. "What are you...?"

"Hand over your miraculous," she growled to Hawkmoth, "or she gets it."

"Naya..." Cat Noir looked so hurt she almost wondered if what she was doing was wrong. No, she knew it was wrong. But this was their only choice in order to win, and after all they'd revealed they had to win. But this wasn't what a superhero should do. That's why Wisp knew she had to be the one to do it, not Ladybug or Cat Noir. They were too kind, she couldn't let them ruin themselves on this. But she was already broken. This was nothing.

"Natalie!" Hawkmoth glared daggers at Wisp, growling, "Gets what, exactly? You wouldn't kill, you're a hero."

"Oh? And who says heroes can't kill?" Feeling sick, She pressed the horn closer to Natalie's throat, feeling the skin press inward until it was on the verge of breaking open.

Please give it up. Please! I don't want to do this! It's not nothing! Please!

Natalie groaned, still coming back into conciseness, and Hawkmoth's eyes widened. Without arguing anymore, he reluctantly reached up and opened his suit, unclipping a Miraculouswith four purple spikes and a white button from his shirt. The moment it left his body, he detransformed into the familiar form of Gabriel Agreste, wearing a white suit with a red and white tie and red pants.

"Good." Wisp jerked her head in the direction of Ladybug. "Now give it to her." When he hesitated she sighed. "Or should I just cut her head off right now? It's really no trouble."

He hissed angrily but walked to Ladybug and deposited the Miraculousinto her hand, then backed up again, raising his hands in surrender. "Now let her go."

"One more thing." Wisp plucked the peacock pin off Natalie's chest and the woman detransformed as well. Wisp shoved her roughly away and she fell to the ground, coughing. She backed out of the cage and went to join her fellow superheroes. With every step her bruised ribs hurt burned and sent spikes of pain throughout her whole body, but she did her best to hide it.

"Natalie...Dad...Why would you..." Cat Noir's tears overflowed and streamed down his face, but his sadness quickly changed to rage. "What was your plan, even!? Why did you—"

"I wanted to bring her back!" Gabriel screamed, interrupting him. "Emilie! I wanted to bring her back to us! Is that so wrong? I know you want that too, my son. And it's possible, with that Miraculous you wear. You—"

"That's...your wish?" A strangled laugh escaped Cat Noir's lips. "You mean you still haven't moved on? She's gone! If you get her back, you'll lose something else! You might lose Natalie, or me! Have you ever thought about that? Or do I mean less to you than someone who's already gone!?"

"No! Adrien! I—"

"Enough." He turned to Ladybug, muttering, "Can you call the police? I want these villains behind bars as soon as possible."

"Wait!" Natalie cried. "I didn't want this! I was only helping him to protect you, Adrien! I love you like my own child! Please..."

Cat Noir's eyes flashed over her coldly. "M'lady? That call?"

"Oh! Right." Ladybug seemed to unfreeze, pulling open her yo-yo and dialing 9-11 into it. Before she put it to her ear, she whispered, "Are you okay?"

He laughed emptily. "Do I look okay?"

She frowned but turned back to the task at hand. "Hello? Rodger? Yes, it's Ladybug. We've apprehended Hawkmoth and figured out his true identity—Gabriel Agreste. We're at the—yes, yes I know...No, I'm not joking. We're at the Agreste manor. Please come as soon as possible. Thank you. I will. Bye." She turned back to Gabriel. "You hear that? They're coming to get you. You'll pay for your crimes."

"Adrien! Don't do this!" Gabriel thought for a moment, then asked slyly, "Is this really what you want? Think about it; you'll be all alone if you get rid of both of us. Where will you go? Who will you turn to? You'll have no one and nothing!"

"Not true." Wisp took Cat Noir's hand and squeezed it gently. "He'll have us. He has me."
Cat Noir smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Naya."

"Of course."

Gabriel's expression turned to one of surprise and disgust. "I don't approve. Adrien, do you really have feelings for this—this commoner? Why?"

"Because she's amazing." Cat Noir squeezed back, smiling for the first time since he'd arrived. "And if you don't approve, I know I'm making the right choice."

"Gh—" Gabriel started forward, but the sounds of police sirens stopped him. After a few moments, the sound of the door being broken down echoed through the house accompanied by the sound of many feet rushing in.

"Come on, Gabriel," Cat Noir raised his stick. "We'd better go meet our company, right?"
