Wisp approached her house from the back, in case Cat Noir was already sitting on her roof waiting for her. As she slipped into her window she whispered, "glow off," which she really hoped were the right words.
Luckily a green glow encircled her and in half a second she was back in her normal clothes. She rushed through her house and up the stairs, shoving open the door so frantically it slammed against the side of the building, making Cat Noir jump.
"You're late," was all he could say, placing a hand over his heart to steady it.
"Sorry, your majesty," she joked, breathing heavily.
"As my subject," he joked back, "You really should have better time management skills. It's a rule for every kitty in my kingdom."
"Kitty? That's my nickname for you."
He laughed as she made her way over and settled down next to him, close enough to feel the heat emanating from his black suit.
Is this too close? Am I making him uncomfortable? Gahhh why am I so hyper-focused on every move he makes?
"You seem bothered. Is everything okay?" she asked gently, squeezing his hand before pulling back.
He sighed. "Actually, there's something new that happened. Today, we were losing the fight against the villain when a new hero came in and saved us."
"Well, that's good, isn't it?"
"Yeah." He threw his gloved hands into the air in disgust. "It's great. And now Ladybug invited her to fight with us again, if she wants to! I'm so happy about it."
"You don't sound happy," she stated the obvious, scooting closer.
"I—I don't know. I have a bad feeling about this new hero: Wisp. Her name's Wisp. I mean, what's with that?"
"With what?" Naya asked, feeling a little insulted. "I like Wisp. I think it's a cool name!"
He smiled out of the corner of his eye at her. "It's not bad. You seem really concerned with this."
"I am!" She flushed in the fading sunlight. "I want you to be happy, Kitty. And if this new superhero makes you unhappy then I don't like her either." She grinned supportively and he ruffled her hair, laughing.
"I think I'll get used to her though. She's certainly powerful."
"Yeah..." she sighed happily, then jumped as he gave her a confused look. "I mean yeah! She sounds—well, you haven't told me what she can do yet, but judging from...I mean, if you think she's powerful then—um..." she laughed awkwardly. Hiding a secret identity was hard!
"You're a mess!" he laughed again. "But yeah, she was super strong. I wasn't paying too much attention to her since I was focused on defeating the villain, but it seemed like she could use every weapon of the miraculous holders. And then, she said "fabricate" and made the perfect thing for defeating the Akuma. I'm guessing that's her special power."
"That's so cool!" Naya interrupted. "Sorry."
"It was really cool. I guess I was just upset because...both Ladybug and I have been training so hard to be the absolute best superheroes we can be, and then this Wisp comes in and is way stronger than either of us! Just because she's got some mark? It's unfair!"
"That's awful." She scooted closer to him, nudging his elbow with her own, a silent reminder that she was there, that she was on his side. He smiled and nudged her back.
"I'm glad I have a friend like you," he whispered, the exact words she'd been dreading hearing. The seemingly worst words in the world right then and there.
"Yeah. Me too."
