"HMM... AND HERE I WAS thinking that you'd never call. What's up, Dr Love?" August teases. The blonde had patiently waited for Delilah to call her since the day she'd left her business card on the hospital bed. To her disappointment, she hadn't. After five days of no contact, she was starting to feel like the cute doctor wasn't as interested in her like she was.
"Hey, August. Sorry about that. With my crazy intern shifts and even crazier roommates, I didn't get the chance to call," Delilah replied sheepishly.
It was true. In the past week alone, she's had to keep Meredith from having another breakdown, convince George to get tampons (he was still refusing to do that), prevent Christina from beating someone up and go to her job (which took up most of her time, but dealing with her roommates somehow gave her more stress than dying patients). Christina wasn't her roommate, but with the amount of time she spends at their house, she might as well just move in already.
"So, um—" Delilah began, fumbling, "My roommate's hosting this, uh, party, and I was kind of hoping that you could come— but you don't have to if you don't want to, of course! It's just— I just—" heat crawled up her neck, and she glanced down at her feet, "I'm sure we can find something else to do on our first date."
A beat of silence passed.
After a second too long, Delilah realized what she'd just said.
First date.
"Shit— no, that— that wasn't what I meant—"
"Calm down, Love," August giggled from the other side of the call, "I'd love to go to the party with you. If we decide that we don't want to be there anymore, I'll take you to my favourite pizza parlour. It's a great date place. They sell heart-shaped pizzas," she soothed.
The brunette blushed. D-Date? Did she just agree to go on a date? With me?
"R-Really? That would be great! Can you come to the hospital at eight? I normally get off at six but Dr Wynn wants me to scrub in on her ankle replacement so I'll be off a little later. Is that okay with you?" Delilah asked.
"Sure, Delilah. I'll see you at eight."
"See you."
With that, the call ended, leaving Delilah staring off into space with a goofy smile on her face.

Skipping down the hallway in search of Dr Wynn, Delilah failed to notice Christina's lingering gaze on her. The Korean needed her help. Earlier that day, Dr Bailey had tasked her with looking through Seattle Grace's old patient files to see who had operated on Mrs Drake in 1999. There were way too many files. She couldn't do them all on her own.
Mrs Drake had originally complained about pressure in her chest after her surgery, but nobody believed her. After some time, the hospital discharged her. Now, the woman had returned. While performing a spaghetti procedure on her, Dr Webber found a towel in her chest cavity. Something careless this way comes.
