CHAPTER 12: Battle Trial

"THE BATTLE TRIAL BETWEEN THE VILLAINS TEAM D VERSUS THE HERO TEAM A BEGINS NOW!" All Might announced. "You guys should observe and think too."

Midoriya is seen clutching Uraraka's waist and they disappear. A second later he was seen dropping the lady in front of the room where Iida is and he disappears again. He appears next somewhere far from his drop off point.

That's when Bakugo emerged from a corner, hands poised with his quirk. They met head on.

"An ambush attack!"

"An ambush is also a tactic. They are now in a real battle."

Bakugo started running towards Midoriya, right hand clenched in a punch, but he caught the gauntlet, and proceeded to shoulder throw the blond.

"Sensei, why is there no sounds? They seem to be talking by the movements of their lips," Kirishima asked.

"They're communicating via wireless transmitter. Besides a schematic plan, they also have a capture tape. If you bind your opponent with this, it means capture success."

Bakugo activated his explosions and propelled himself towards Midoriya, sending him a flying kick. But the greenet feigns a capture with the tape, to which the blond responds with another blast of explosion into his face with his left hand. Midoriya precisely dodges to the right. Then runs away. Bakugo gives chase.

"Why is Izuku not using his quirk?"

"He wants to give his childhood tormentor a fair fist fight," Sawada answered for them.

The same time Iida found out Uraraka was there, Bakugo found Midoriya. With right arm stretched forward, Bakugo pulled something out from the side.

"Childhood tormentor?"

It's a bazooka with a grenade-like detonator!

"They go way back since diaper days," Shinso explained.

The blast was too strong that the building was wrecked; the shaking could be felt in the monitor room. "Sensei, are you not gonna stop them? Bakugo might kill Midoriya!"

"Bakugo, that attack just now is a dumb move from the villains. Using indoor attacks would only destroy the target. I will be subtracting a lot of points."

Bakugo shouts in frustration. With explosion he propells himself again forward towards Midoriya. The greenet sidesteps, but his foot lands on uncertain ground that it tilts his balance. He readies his own counter attack, but Bakugo somersaults over him and blasts him on his back.

"He may look like a meathead, but he actually uses his brain," Todoroki noted.

"What do you mean?" Kirishima asked.

"He cancelled the inertia while attacking, knowing full well that Midoriya-san is able to dodge the attack in the blink of an eye." Yaoyorozu answered for him. "He has full control over his explosions to be able to that."

Bakugo then proceeds to Midoriya's side with his gauntlet, grabbing the latter's wrist, spun them around with his explosion to throw him hard.

"He's fleeing!" Ashido exclaimed at Midoriya's running figure on the screen.

Midoriya runs to an unbroken window, weirdly caging himself between it and the angry blond. With both clenching their fists, they face each other.

"They're going to hurt each other at this rate, sensei!" Kirishima said.

"STOP TH-"

Midoriya jumps and was gone from the screen, and the next thing they see, the floor where Uraraka and Iida are crumbles from the effects of Midoriya's many upper cuts. The damage extends to the top of the building, wreaking the entirety of what's left from Bakugo's attack earlier.

Uraraka seizes the moment; she pulls the pillar she held unto like it weighed nothing and waves it like a bat, causing the flying debris Midoriya has made to shoot towards Iida. She jumps in the midst of debris towards their target while Iida was busy defending himself, and manages to land on the target.

"HERO TEAM WINS!" All Might announced, interrupting the awed silence the monitor room was engulfed in.

They went through the battle one more time with Yaoyorozu leading the observations.

"Alright! Let's switch on to the next group!" All Might said and fished another pair of badges. "Team B as heroes and team I as villains!"

Team B: Shoto Todoroki and Mezo Shoji versus team I: Mashirao Ojiro and Toru Hagakure.

The battle starts with Shoji extending his dupli-arms and making the ends of it into eyes and ears, while on the villains side Hagakure was removing her gloves and boots because basically Hagakure quirk is invisibility.

And with one touch Todoroki froze the whole building with perfect precision.

"Holy shit, that was fast!"

Shivering from the cold that could be felt all the way to the monitor room, All Might commented, "he didn't hurt his partner, didn't damage the weapon, and even weakened the enemy. HERO TEAM WINS!"

Bakugo was shaking with anger. The rage was burning inside of him like heated acid, trying to melt him from within.

Todoroki then proceeds to melt his ice.

Nothing much happens for the next fights. Even Shinso's match was anti-climatic. Until they were down to teams K and L.

"Ok! Now for the last group, would you like to choose who's who?" All Might asked the remaining 2 pairs.

"We'll be the villains!" Sawada eagerly offered, to which Gokudera gawked at disappointedly and Yamamoto laughed carefree.

"Is that ok with you, Dokuro?" the teacher asked the girl that she nodded in return. "Alright then! Villains, prepare your set up!"
