No matter how many times he thought about it, Cale couldn't help having a hard time accepting it.

"Cale Henituse..."

Just where did he go wrong for things to end this way..?

"...If I'm going to die, then I'll be sure to take you with me."

He couldn't even blame this bastard for those failures either. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't.. because each of those plans always fell apart before he could even put them to play. Whether it be the enemies suddenly being aware of his actions or him collapsing after coughing blood without having even used his ancient powers yet... something would always happen to push him closer and closer to the edge.

Not only that, but it was that very same man -someone they had always perceived to be a cold heartless individual- that was currently holding the dying commander in a warm embrace.

That's right.

They both knew they were dying.

And they were fine with it.

Even though Cale knew he'd been dying for a long time, he didn't care. It'd be hard not to know, especially when considering that each of the ancient powers within him were always yelling at him to stop sacrificing himself... but could it really be considered a sacrifice if you knowingly took the poison?

It was kind of ironic when he thought about it.

Despite having obtained so many ancient powers in an effort to ensure his safety and wellbeing, he chose to look the other way and knowingly let himself be poisoned by the very people he'd been trying to protect.

He tried very hard to ignore it all.

But no matter how much he tried to ignore the looks his companions have been giving him when they think he isn't looking, he wasn't stupid. Far from it.

He was very aware of those looks and the meanings behind them.

After all, it was that very same look he was receiving from them right this second.

He doesn't know when they started to feel this way about him... that's a lie. He knows exactly when this started.

He just doesn't want to remember.

He doesn't want to remember how the people he cherished so much eventually began to turn their backs on him one by one. He doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that he was no longer considered to be of any importance to them... because acknowledging that would mean acknowledging the fact that he is no longer considered worth keeping.

He was an outsider.

He knows he's an outsider.

And yet still...

He couldn't bring himself to let go.

He wanted to at least hope he was misunderstanding them and that it was all in his head.

Yet here he is, watching the people he considered his family not making a single effort to save him from White Stars dead mana bomb... each of them possessing a triumphant look in their eyes at having finally managed to get rid of him.

There were a few exceptions who were running towards him with their hands reaching out in a futile attempt to save him, but other than that... not one person was even making an effort to get close.

'Huh.. not even Choi Han is trying to run over here.... I guess I'm glad not all of them chose to abandon me...'

It hurts knowing the White Star- someone who had tried to kill him on multiple occasions- cared more about him than his companions did.
